I don't care if the only material he has been acknowledged for recently has been his yearly The Rap Up's. Skillz is a goddamn beast on the microphone, one could say he is very close to being a complete package when it comes to MCing. An underground rapper with mainstream appeal, who unfortunately never got the dice to fall on his number.

As far as mainstream viability is concerned check a few songs & cuts from his unreleased Beat Club Records turned Rawkus Records album (I Ain't Mad No More) which is entitled "Got Skillz - The Timbaland Collection" http://www.datpiff.com/Skillz-Got-Skillz---The-Timbaland-Collection-mid116.html

Then there's ofcourse his famous/infamous Rap Up's -

The Rap Up Collection 2002 - 2005 http://rapidshare.com/files/8165537/02-05_Rap_Ups-RGF-PYRO.zip (pword: www.rapgodfathers.com)

The underground indie mixtape "Confessions of a Ghostwriter" which has one of the greatest songs along the lines of 'Pac's great "Dear Mama", which is titled "You Only Get One". - "Confessions Of A Ghostwriter" http://depositfiles.com/en/files/25927/Skillz-Confessions_Of_A_Ghostw.html

I'm telling y'all that song "You Only Get One" is deep hip-hop at it's absolute finest, from the deep to the harmonic hook to the heartfelt rhymes.

But brushing that aside for the moment, it's mind boggling how Skillz is so over looked and underrated in the industry as well as among fans.

Yea, "From Where" was a great album.. I remember I bought it like the 1st week it came out cuz it got a decent review in the Source (and got the hiphop quotable of that month if i remember correctly) which i read all the time back then.. I've only met one other person that knew who Skillz was.. Its a shame since his stuff is pretty good, although there are a few mixtapes I havent heard of his.

Skillz is affable because he speaks with an earnestness and conviction about life. Even when dude is providing a laundry list of complaints about his inequitable conditions, he still manages to come across as sincere in view of the fact that he doesn’t take himself too seriously. Those Rap Up joints are straight up off the meat rack.
