Then his Mom dies while getting surgery to make herself look better, although I read she was getting a breast reduction, which are usually for medical reasons, and something else. I think he was exploring a mentality that was most likely imprinted in him by his mother. He most likely developed a tendency from observing her compulsions, enabling him to acknowledge it objectively when she could not. Maybe he should have looked a little deeper at his own words and encouraged his mother to get psychological treatment for it. Of course, that is all in retrospect and could not possibly have been expected of him.
