Silly woman marrys a snake

Perhaps I, being Indian and having been to India, understand this story better than anyone in this thread. I don't believe anyone else in this thread would understand the spiritual, religious and holistic attitudes towards marriage in India, especially in rural Indian villages.

Perhaps people should consider the fact that the concept of marriage doesn't mean the same things to all 6 billion people on the planet.

I for one would applaud anyone doing what they want, for their own reasons, not laugh or patronise.

Maybe it seems stupid to people that haven't left their preconceived bubble of society, but it's obviously not stupid to her, her village, or the 2,000 guests that attended, now is it? Calling them idiots, lunatics or crazy is hardly a compassionate view. I wouldn't be so quick to judge, that's all.

it's just biology. if people married animals then that is counter-productive to the perpetuation of humanity and the necessary diverse gene pool. likewise, the animal does not have consciousness or self-awareness, so the marriage is not a mutual reciprocation of affection. at best the snake likes the lady because she feeds it, then forgets about her and the meal 30 seconds later. yes, an animal with the cranial volume of the snake will not remember events or persons, so explain to me how that is a marriage and not simply a fetishism form of pet ownership. god forbid that dumb bitch consumated her marriage.

usually i am not one to poo poo on others' beliefs, but this broad is a taco short of a combination.

You speak of Christian beliefs and attitudes towards marriage, consummation, moral stance of the perpetuation of humanty, etc. I highly doubt this woman gives a fuck about that. Nobody said she has to fuck the snake.

Explain how that is a marriage? Well, like I said, it depends on your definition of a marriage. It doesnt mean the same thing to every person on the planet. She obviously has her own definition of it which probably includes respect and equality of all species of animals, there's obviously some sort of reason in her head to marry the snake.

Now what I would call crazy is the Englishman I read about that married his local pub.

i am not christian. if she was not going to screw the snake, well what's the point of marriage? marriage is a union between two consenting parties who are in love or who are meant to join separate family units. she cannot propogate with the snake, the snake is emotionless, and the snake has no ability to express its desires. the snake doesn't even know it's a snake.

she is not sane. over simplifying this down to saying that marriage is not universal is almost as crazy as the lady is. marriage serves a purpose, regardless where and when in the world. no ends can be served in this union that cannot be accomplished by a trip to one's local pet store. it's a selfish act that is not mutual.

urban myth. as you should know, by english law that is illegal.

it is obvious to me that even while considering her religious beliefs, the woman is either deficient in intellect or sanity. nothing positive can come of this union except her face in a paper and people talking about her. if this is how she wants to earn her 15 seconds then so be it. i'd rather not be the laughingstock of the world.

for your sake, i understand your group hug save the whales mentality, but if you honestly believe it's koser to marry a snake then you are very different than i thought you were.
