If a man is on deathrow is dying bcuz he is sick while waiting to be executed in like 10 years(or however long the wait is now), should he be saved? Given treatment and etc? I want to know every1s opinion in here. Could be a nice topic to discuss in here.

Now every1 put aside..the fact that you might be against capital punishment and etc.

And the thing is..you do NOT know what crime he committed..and or his background. All his appeals and etc have been turned down.

I believe that there's already a law or procedure regarding that. They most likely DO treat the criminal. There's a difference between dying now and dying ten years later, regardless of the circumstances that you're in.

there goin to be kill anyway so would there be any point in treating them,

you're gonna die someday,so if you ever get an illness why should you get treated?

see, thats what you said sounds like. it sounds stoopid

i know state law says you have to..but im asking for ur opinion..on wut you feel.

but ya i know wut ur sayin sofi and candy

I said yeah, being put to death is one thing, but it's just plain cruel and evil to let someone suffer no matter what the case is. I don't care what the person did, letting them suffer should not be an option. That makes us as a society no better than the common criminal. Humanity shouldn't be able to be compromised for the sake of some petty revenge.:fury:

exactly what I was going to say :thumb:

...But it gets interesting when the "treatment" they need is an organ transplant. Because then you only have so many to go around, and you could argue that someone's life in prison is less valuable than one who's not.

wow u just opend like a brand new chapter..for a heavy debatable conversation piece.:)

Other than the fact that capital punishment is not a correct way to go about crime, ofcourse criminals have to be treated. If you have the means to do so,and you choose not to because "the prisoner is going to die anyway" then that's neglectful abuse. You are indirectly causing pain to somebody, and that's a crime in it self when you have the means to do and by law you're obliged to. And want to not bring the law in to this? Then you'd be inhumane to not treat him. That's what being a healer is all about, never refuse anybody in need medical attention if you can provide it.

It's ok you trying to make it "fair" by not giving us any details on the circumstances surrounding the scenario but i haven't got enough to even form an opinion.

I think each case would have to be dealt with individually dependoing on the circumstances, not everything is simply black or white.

so your saying..that if you were in charge of telling the doctors if he should or shouldnt be treated... it would depend on what he did n etc?

Something like the need of an organ transplant is different, but if it is something that can be treated without risking the life of someone else then it should be done. An organ transplant is so hard to come by anyway, they're hella expensive and the waiting lists and unfortunately ridiculously long. So, if there is someone who's on the waiting list in the hospital for the same organ, then I think yeah they should get it over someone who is on death row. However, if the person isn't on death row and is just in jail, it's not up to us to pick and choose if the person in jail's life is less valuable than the person who isn't.

It depends on the illness, his general health, how old he is, whether he wants to be treated. Lots of factors in this.
