Non-Urban Music Shock me. What artists do you like that I wouldn't expect?

Title says it all. I'm an eclectic musical space alien so I don't think anything I'm into would surprise anyone, but some people wouldn't expect me to be a fan of Joni Mitchell.

So try and shock me, tell me an artist that you love that I wouldn't think you might be in to.

I don't really know what artists you'd be surprised to know that I listen to. I'm a bit of an indie/alternative rock guy, but I like everything from Raekwon to Ray Charles, Mozart to Mos Def and A Tribe Called Quest to A Flock of Seagulls.

I think most serious music fans think they're the most eclectic person in the world - myself included.

Incidentally, I'm also a Joni Mitchell fan. Particularly California and River.

You should check out Joni's "Hejira" and "Hissing of Summer Lawns" albums. Those are classic.

Are you a Bjork fan by any chance? I think she's awesome.

Another artist I love that nobody here has probably heard of is an electro producer called Anthony Rother.

Yes, but only once I heard Medulla. Before then I'd kind of avoided her.

I'm a big fan of Joanna Newsom too, who's a bit weird. She sounds a bit like Bjork, a bit like Kate Bush and a bit like Lisa Simpson.

Medulla is great, if a little strange. But then, this is Bjork we're talking about. I've been a fan since Post came out in 1995.

I'll check out Joanna Newsom, I'm not familiar with her work, but I love Bjork and Kate Bush is awesome too so it sounds like I would like it.
