Selling out?

Militant (or any other artist) is supporting walmart by letting them sell their product! Walmart earns money because of them although its just 0.00000000001% of everything they earn.

In theory, if no one would buy anymore products from walmart because people know about walmarts problem and they have other options to buy what they need, im sure walmart would change their behaviour.

I do believe that one person can make a difference, but in their own way. Even though it may seem that by Militant letting Walmart sell his product is indirectly supporting what they are doing (to their workers), it's really not because if that was the case then the workers at walmart would've quit. But look? Most of them havn't because they acctually do care about there financial well being.

So just how the walmart empoloyees never quit, and continued to work through these conditions, because they know they all have families who need food on the table, Militant isn't doing anything wrong by having his product up at walmart, not the way I see it because then your putting yourself out to an even a harder time by not earning money.

Which one is worse:

Your husband or wife has been working for Walmart for over a year now, and suddenly Walmart starts to cut corners on your wife or husband's pay cheque by 15%. Let's say you have three choices in this situation:

a.) Quit and get a new job.
b.) Take the picket lines with all Walmart Staff, even though you know it won't do that well since your only doing it for a day or two until Walmart losen's up, and you even have a chance of getting fired just for being apart of this comotion.

c.) Work there anyways because you know your own and your families financial being is more important then your co-workers thinking your a "sellout" by not supporting them in the picklet lines.

Now which one sounds the most reasonable? Don't think about selling out other co-workers for a second because selling yourself and your family out is much more worse then selling co-workers who really don't give a fuck about your well being.

I pick b.) because my well being and my families well being is more important. The whole world can call someone a sell out for one something they did but if God doesn't see them like that then it's not true no matter what people say. The blind have been leading the blind for a long time now, and it still hasn't stopped.

Hint: To each one of these answers leads to "selling out" of some sort. Which one are you..a, b or c?

Im not buying another one of your records you big sellout.

You used to be cool man but then you sold out.You have lost your number one fan.

Your post comes off as extremely fake. You really don't care that Wal-Mart sells your music. When you saw they did, your little ego penis grew two more inches. That's why I don't like you much, Militant. You needlessly feed your ego to the point where you'd even let people think you're a sell out, just to show that your music is actually being sold somewhere. Come on, you're not Eminem, you're not Bono. You don't have that kind of leverage to have a moral stance against Wal-Mart for selling your music. Not to forget that it's idiotic to think you're a sell-out for Wal-Mart selling your CD. A little Chinakid in a wal-mart uniform probably didn't manufacture your CD. However, an uneducated fat white woman with a husband who works a construction job did sell that CD over the counter to a listener with bad taste in music.

That and the fact that a music artist who headlines MTV awards with millions of listeners should not neg-rep a member on an internet forum for saying "You suck, militant" in a joking way.

Not to mention for threatening a member on an internet forum with defamation of character. OH GOLLY JESUS.

Now, before you write an essay, make sure you don't forget a nice hook in the intro for the reader and you know three body paragraphs, conclusion, the whole nine yards.

i agree completely. it didn't sound AT ALL like you had any sort of moral dilemma with this Mili. to me it seems as if each new post you make is associated with your fame - or alluding to how good you are. no offence, but it comes across as extremely pretentious and arrogant. now i understand with your level of success you are, of course, entitled to be proud of your achievements - but this thread was obviously just a front to plug in the fact that your cd's are being sold at wal-mart. which is cool, yeh, im happy for you - but honestly, forgive me if im wrong (tho i doubt it) - but your stance was swayed pretty easily... like it doesnt take much thought to come up with the response made by sebastian.

Bad taste in music, lol. That's funny since I doubt you've even heard it. I know you are just trying to piss me off with that one, so go ahead, rant and rave about how shitty it is until the cows come home if it makes you feel better since it certainly doesn't make me feel any worse.

I am going to be 100% honest with you here, SOFI.

When I first saw the Walmart thing, my first reaction was "That's cool."

My second reaction was "Actually....is it?"

It makes me sad that you question my morals and assume I would fake some sort of moral dilemma for the sake of boosting my own ego. Fair enough, if you think that's what kind of person I am. I am not. Perhaps on some small level you are right, but only in terms of me making a thread.

Fact is, I did have that moral dilemma, and I was thinking a lot about it, and I did want others opinions.

I realize that you don't like me, and I'm not desperate for friendship so I'm hardly going to go out of my way to change that. But seriously, I want you to know that in this instance, you are wrong and have jumped to a lot of conclusions.

Who did I neg-rep that something jokingly? And who are you to say what I should and shouldn't do? Should Courtney Love post on a message board? She's more famous than I. What about Jin, or ?uestlove? If it bothers you that much then I will rep whoever it is I neg-repped.

ill-matic......see above.

I'm not questioning that you guys may consider me arrogant, and that I do things to feed my own ego. Fair enough if you think that. I have my flaws, like everyone. But this thread in particular is not, as you say, "fake".

You neg-repped BeReal a couple of days ago where he said Ps. why does militant suck or something like that.

Jin or Courtney Love would not do that.

There are some things in the world you cant get enough of....rep points is definitely one of them things.

I thought selling out is when you start making things to cater for money & fame instead of making it for artistic value and for yourself & enjoyment per say. When you start making any random BS purposely to get some shine instead of letting the skills get you that. In whatever the case or example may be. Music to movies.

Black Eyed Pea's are really the best example. Will.I.Am & co. went from being the new Souls Of Mischief to being a few females short of a cross breed between PussyCat Dolls & Nitti.

^what he said. being a sellout is not where you sell your cd but more what is on your cd. if you change your style to sell more, thats being a sellout. i think.
