Have you guys seen the Bourne films with Matt Damon?
I know the Bourne franchise is fiction. It is centred around the CIA though. Those guys had access to everything in them films, including mobile phones, passport records, bank accounts/transactions, even controlling camera surveillance. They called it 'The Grid'. The internet formed part of that grid.
I believe the CIA has access to everything they want. If I was running the CIA I would want access to everything, and monitor major threats.
As long as I'm being a 'good boy' I shouldn't have to worry about being monitored. The government having access to my info means that I am secure, in my own country.
