What are the scariest movies you've ever seen?

I'm a big horror movie fan but I haven't watched many recently, I need some soul chilling material whether it be old or new.

And give it an factor out of five!

The Ring was one of the scariest i've seen.

blair witch scared the shit out of me the first time i saw it. i saw it the day it was released and got caught in all the psychological hype that was surrounding the movie at the time. now i just look back and laugh at myself.

The Anguish, a Horror Film made in the early 80's. it has the Lady from the Poltergeist movies, the little old lady that kept saying Carolann. Rent that One.

Or The Shining with Jack Nicholson that was creepy the first time I saw it. A definite horror classic is The Exorcist pt 1.

The Shining scared the shit outta me, when i saw it the first time..i was like 8 lol. Watched it recently and it is still creepy.

The Exorcist wasn't really scary. It's fucking great though :thumb:

My personal favourite scary moments are in:

The Exorcist III - there's this one scene that really scared me for a bit.
Rosemary's Baby - right at the end, when you see Rosemary making a phone call and there are people slouching behind her to the cupboard.
The Omen - the scene on the graveyard, when they find the jackal body.
The Shining - whenever that kid rides around his tricycle.

exorcist was scarier to religious people, b/c it works off of their beliefs. it's not scream out loud scary, more "think about it" scary.

I still gotta say out of all movies i have seen, JAWS is still the one that scared me the most when watching it as a kid. Still fucks me up now even though the shark looks hella fake, the film is a masterpiece of suspense.
