pictures have been published which basically show a "fake-execution".

swimmer Shayne Reese had to go down on his knees and naval officer Nathan Schrag put a gun to his head and pulled the trigger.

the swimmer were shocked and Reese began to cry.

they called it "psychological training"

I found this:

Australian swimming has been rocked by newspaper photos showing teenage athletes taking part in training with guns held to their heads.

The chief executive of Swimming Australia, Glenn Tasker, said the photos were "nothing short of appalling, insulting, embarrassing and unequivocally unacceptable".

News Limited newspapers has published pictures of a training camp held at Melbourne's Carey Aquatic Swimming Club for swimmers as young as 16.

In one of them, a Royal Australian Navy trainer mimicked shooting a squad member in the head.

It happened during a military-style camp featuring 2006 Commonwealth Games hopefuls Shayne Reece and Sarah Katsoulis.

Australian head swim coach Alan Thompson said the pictures sensationalised the activities but he has asked for such activities to be removed from future team-building exercises.

"Tough training regimes are part of our sport, but there is a line you don't cross," said Mr Tasker.

"I was shocked to see some of these activities ... and I want to stress that they are not in any way endorsed by Swimming Australia."

The coach concerned has apologised and said future activities with his squad would not include some of the more extreme aspects of the boot camp programme.

Swimming Australia is to tell national team coaches of the appropriate conduct of training programmes and to uphold the image and reputation of the sport.
