i think retiring early is too restrictive. if i love my line of work, i wouldnt want to retire just because im financially comfortable. the satisfaction i'd obtain from working hard and reaping the rewards would outweigh the limited satisfaction id receive from sitting around doing nothing @ such a young age.
for me retirement would HAVE to be @ a relatively senior age. only then would i feel satisfied.. like i would happily sit back, rest my feet knowing that i have slogged it out for decades and now it's appropriate for me to rest. i'd be more deserving of the rest when retiring @ an old age.
anywho, on the topic of saving. at the moment, im a pathetic casual worker, so my cheques come very inconsistently. some weeks i will work a shitload, others i wont, and so it really becomes difficult to save for something in particular because the working routine becomes very wayward and all over the place. im not really in a position to be like "ok ill save 100 bucks every week" because some weeks im not rostered.
hence why im thinking of switching to part time because this casual shit just doesnt cut it at all.
