Film & TV San An vs. Detroit

#3
We're talking 7 games of 100 COMBINED points apiece! 51-49, 53-47 final scores, there are no winners here.

Give it to Detroit, why not, they beat my team last year, maybe if they win this year, it'll take some of the edge off (I still haven't gotten over last year). I'm not a fan of them (their fans are lower than Philly fans), but they're fighters, man. They deserve to win, I can't find anything to like about the Spurns. Duncan is the single most boring NBA player since Shawn Bradley or Dan Majerle.

This is a hard series to predict. I believe Detroit will win because of a couple of things:
1. San Antonio played Phoenix, last series. The Suns don't have good defense and the Spurs got used to it. When they play Detroit, they won't know what hit them. The same shots won't be falling in.
2. Detroit played a really good defensive team, and then the last series, a really good offensive and defensive team. Yet, they still won.

Therefore, I believe Detroit will win.

lol @ people saying duncan is boring, you people have no appreciation for basketball. Maybe they should make a special kids league for all the run and gun teams that can't play defence and you can all watch that, and let the real teams battle it out for the nba.

Sweety, you can harp about fundamentals all you want, (BTW groobz, you must be a HUGE Boston Celtics fan), but the fact of the matter is, I like fast breaks, I like high scoring games, I like shootouts, does that make me any less of a fan of the NBA or basketball in general? I was born into the SHOWTIME era, I am the bastard son of Magic Johnson, I know and understand the weight and VALUE of a no-look pass on the fast break for a quick two.

I also understand what "running the offense, missing the shot, getting the rebound and running the offense again, etc." means, as well, but whatever happened to "living in the moment", "improvising", phrases that people like Kevin McHale probably didn't pay too much attention to? Let's just say Duncan wouldn't make a very good jazz musician, if you know what I'm talking about. Groobz, is that too much of a stretch, do I need to explain that connection more thoroughly for you?

Kandi, you can like fastbreak basketball all you want, I just hate the sooky kids that diss timmy and the spurs because they actually play defence and know fundementals and can thrash these gungho teams. Look at Suns, yay i can score lots of points via layups, but when the played a proffesional team with someone like timmy as the leader, boom OWNED.

I like topnotch basketball, the great players and great teams, spurs/detroit are that, these fastbreak teams are not on their level period.

I agree. People look to basketball as a source of entertainment, like it's supposed to be an action movie. I, myself, see it differently.

Basketball IS a source of entertainment.

When a ball is stolen at midcourt, are you saying the best thing to do is to hold the ball and wait for the offense to cross half court and set up, even if you've got only one defender in the backcourt and one of your men is about three steps to the basket. No, you take a chance and hit that guy, or else you advance the ball on a fastbreak. Slowing the pace down isn't always the answer, and it sure won't tune more viewers in. I just wish more teams would take the initiative, take chances, and play more "gunslinger" basketball.

Phoenix "fell in love with their own legend", they had outhustled so many teams, that they didn't take time to learn how to adjust to a slower team like SA. If an organization took the time to become a well-balanced team with the power to adjust to unexpected situations, AND run a great fastbreak could win multiple titles in the state of the game today. Suns need tweaking, but they're not far away, Memphis isn't too far away, either.

phonex need to learn to play defence, especially amari and nash. Spurs were not slow on transition defence as suns soon found out.

Basketball is a form of entertainment for some,, but not for me, because I enjoy watching the best teams not the exciting teams. Why would i want to watch a Suns vs Heat when they arn't the best?.

There should be another league for you entertainment cats, where dunks are worth 4points, 360's worth 8points ect, all the young athletic no defence no fundemental type guys can play in, while the real men play it out for the NBA.

Talk to Stern about it, groobz. Obviously what you say is gospel, I'm surprised you haven't molded the league to have Jason Kidd and Jason Williams kicked out of the NBA. Too unorthadox, that Kobe Bryant doesn't play enough team ball, McGrady and Carter are much too flashy, you'd better cut LeBron & Wade, too, just to be on the safe side.

You need to dribble to the top of the key and dump it to the left, like say, a Parker to Bowen textbook bounce pass. A chest-level bounce pass, though, not too high up, don't raise your elbows above your collarbone now. Now slow the pace down, you have 17 seconds left on the clock, Duncan has lulled Ben Wallace to sleep with his wild Wake Forest stories, he's open! Now watch as Bowen rifles a pass, no wait, slow it down, a nice, safe lob pass is just fine, and if you can't force it, dump it back to Parker, you still have 12 seconds left. Ok, back to Parker, who drives weak side unguarded, for the layup, wait, safer to hand off to Duncan, not too fast now, you don't want to risk a turnover, there's still 4 seconds left. Ok, Duncan has it, back to the glass, and a slow, turning bank shot off the backboard and.....miss, Ginobili with the rebound, who passes it to Horry, open for the three. He lines up his body, he's very reliable with the three, wait! Popovich is yelling to reset the offense, THREE'S ARE TOO RISKY! Ok, now back to Parker, who fakes right and darts a nice bounce pass to Bowen, who, ejriwjtoijweoigjoweoijwoijoiwjoitwjrblahblahblahblahblah

Please enlighten me on who the real men were/are, take me on a history lesson, groobz. That Magic Johnson was nothing but trouble, why did he even have a nickname, anyway, that just invites that flashy behavior. Michael Jordan would have been ok if he just didn't dunk all the time. Those reverse layups were much too risky, and why did he take that last shot against Bryon Russell, anyway, that's too risky, he should have dribbled in and passed it to the left side, then into the center, or back out and in again, don't force things. Run the offense.

Mate i don't care if you like the wades, kobe's and the gungho type play, its all good, i just hate our people sook about the spurs when they're better.

I don't watch basketball to see entertaining dunks and fastbreaks, I watch it to see the best of the best play basketball, and at the moment the top 2 teams are detroit and spurs. Why would i want to watch the Suns play gungho, when they suck compared to spurs fundemental style? I like to watch the best play, not half ok teams play.

Ok, point taken, I understand. I guess I got a little hot on the subject. Being a Lake Show fan, I'm not used to being on the outside looking in, we usually make the playoffs :)
