Now this one is just too abstract and grotesque for me. What could it possibly represent?

^Woah Yupanqui, great to see so much Dali, but I think that's enough pictures for now! Can't keep up!

Anyway, I like Dali's stuff, even if some of it disgusts me, but that is the idea - sexual confrontation and violence almost. Especially the one where the couple is devouring each other with an assortment of utensils. Peristence of Memory, or whatever it is called, will always be my fav - it's not one which really showcases his talent, but the image made an imprint on my mind.

On the other hand, I can understand the criticisms that came from other Surrealists and why they claimed Dali was not one, his painting are so absurd sometimes that they go beyond what is imaginable in a dream.

In terms of skill, detail and originality, Dali is unsurpassed in my opinion....at least if we are talking modern art.

Never Seen this one, I think it is repersenting people becomeing tools to industry.

In fact have not seen many of these, this one looks more Van Gogh then Dali.

awesome thread, i remember studying a lot of dali but havent seen quite a lot of these before...Few things about Dali really appeal..the clocks, the politics, the weird titles, reaction to war, the deep symbols and his whole surrealist style...theres a lot more to dali's work and my appreciation of it but I cant be bothered to detail, i just wanna look at the pics again. Thanks for posting these up.

The first picture is actually called Dream Caused by the Flight of a Bumblebee around a Pomegranate One Second Before Awakening. He had some crazy titles. Young Virgin Auto-Sodomized by the Horns of Her Own Chastity, for example.
