running over cats

I hit a raccoon once. As I was running it over I lifted my feet up inside the car...like that was going to save him. It made the most horrible noise and I called my mom and almost cried. ...shuttup

the first one i killed i felt bad, mainly because its owners saw it happen and they came over to me crying while i was checking if it was dead. but now its more of an annoyance than anything.

rabbits also get killed by my car and everyone elses pretty often, there is a street near my friend and at night they just run across the road fast as.

I've had cats run out infront of my car and I've managed to avoid hitting it without slamming the brakes or swerving.. I don't know what your doin to hit 6 in 2 years or if the cats in that area are just cutting it too fine but I'm just glad I've never hit any.

A kangaroo hit the side of my parents car once, they were doing 80 and it just leaped into the front pannel, damage was pretty bad but luckily wasn't a right off.

its also pretty lucky they wernt injured, i live sorta close to the coast and lots of people get hurt badly and even die from hitting roo's.

Rukas, that's probably the worst shit I've ever heard. I'd probably wouldn't ever go back to sleep if I saw and heard that...

Anyways, I've never hit anything. I swerve out of the way or hit the breaks, funny cause I tend to speed a lot. I always hate seeing dead animals on the road. I've seen a group of run over seagulls before... How the fuck do you hit 3-4 seagulls in one grouping? It's beyond fucked up.
I've also seen a fox... like seriously, you can't spot a fox ahead of you? or lingering on the sides? Sometimes I seriously wonder if ppl drive with their eyes closed.

I swerved to keep from hitting a bird on the highway when I was learning to drive. My passenger was like "Hit the f*cking bird next time!" :/

Well, I probably wouldn't have the balls to clean everything up after I saw and heard a cat massacred like that.

^I agree, unless its a deer or moose on the highway at night, I really don't understand how you can hit the shit. Also slamming on the breaks or swerving is not very dangerous unless your driving over 100km/h or in heavy traffic.

I think I've said this on here before.

There are a bunch of man made lakes in my area, consequently there a lot of geese around during spring and fall. One day a mother and five of her babies were crossing the street, so I stopped to let them cross. The asshole coming the other way just drove right through them =(. It was one of the most inconsiderate things I've ever seen.

^^i remember you saying that before. yea some fuckers actually speed up when they see an animal on the road. assholes.

Holy shit, I'd seriously hunt him down.

also what do you do if you dont swerve or slam the brakes? hop over them or something?

What I do is watch the sides of the road, obviously I look infront/behind but I am aware of what is coming from the sides. Alot of times I see the cat before it's actually on the road so it gives me the chance to slow down and if it does bolt into the road braking is alot easier. Cat's usually run across the road fast, they don't strut across so it's usually a matter of seconds. Also putting the brakes on early means if there is anyone behind me they know somethings up and are braking also, which means braking harder when the cat gets on the road isn't so dangerous. I've never had to swerve.

I have actually hit a bird. I was on a freeway doing 90 and a flock of them flew in front not close but I had slowed slightly, they went past no problems so I kept going. Then I noticed them circle back around and were going straight infront of me. I braked and missed every one of them except the slowest which clipped the front left of my car.

Speaking of ducks, there was a mama duck and her ducklings that used to travel from the river to my school atleast every week, this is in the city so alot of cars etc. Anyway one of my lecturers was helping them across a busy street one day and all the cars were stopped waiting, then a police car (no lights/sirens) overtakes everyone and plows into them. :(

I was on the way to my first date with my current girlfriend too! I ended up being late but Im pretty sure she understood LOL.

I don't understand the hate for AWD. I'm no driving purist, such as yourself. I don't refer to FWD as "wrong-wheel-drive." Plus, if my dad bought it for me, I really can't complain or argue with him if he thinks it will help in the snow, despite not having snow tires.

He did just take delivery of an F10 Alpina B7, which is RWD (offered in AWD, too, but he chose "right wheel drive" this time) so I guess that makes up for it.

I do beat 535is from 0-100 with the traction. After that, theoretically, drivetrain loss is greater and I should be at a disadvantage. Eat my nuts. I'm putting down 360 whp and 380 wtq. I love having AWD.

No AWD hate, but BMW and RWD just go hand in hand. I'm not a purist or a specific fan of the marque but if i'd ever get a BMW it'd have to be a proper RWD one. Cos that's what BMW does well. If i wanted an AWD car i'd get an Audi if it's supposed to be safe and balanced or a Jap if I wanted to drive like a hooligan on acid.

If AWD was a requirement you could've gotten a lot of other nice cars. And unless you have no feeling in your feet whatsoever, AWD and RWD don't differ that much in serious weather conditions. With both you still have to be careful as fuck. Proper winter/snow tires help a ton more. And on a good day you can have a ton more fun.

The Alpina is very nice stuff, though. Always liked their work. Their trademark spoke rims are porn, too. But is it a 7 or a 5? B7 is a 7 serie but F10 is the chassis code for the new 5.

Is your old man a BMW fanatic?

i was coming around a bend, and a cat ran across the road right in front of me. i tried to swerve, but it was running in the direction i was swerving lol.

i heard a big bang and it must have got caught in the tire flap cos i heard it moving.

i was very rattled and it scared the fuck out of me. it was dark too, so that didnt help.

did you stop and check it out etc? i hope you did.

i never hit anything (living) in my life. once got close to a deer but that was it.

if i drive in a residential area i tend to scan underneath and behind parked cars for animals or little children that will decide to run right in front of the car.

I don't think I could have gotten a sensible car with AWD for the price of the 535. RS4? Great performance, but I wouldn't need THAT much. Plus, I would rather have a Bimmer than an Audi, save for the V10 R8.

He isn't, but I've been shaking things up a bit at home. We went to the Auto Show in February where the Alpina made its NA debut, and we decided to go for it. He was looking at the S65, but I convinced him the Alpina was very similar, but more "exotic," and a good ton cheaper....relatively.

I could just see that. "Before we take this relationship any further, there's something you should know about me. I'm a killer. I prepared for our date by ripping the spines and guts out of a cat. It's sort of a ritual for me every time I start my car. So are you ready to eat?"
