Child Killed After Being Unbuckled, Thrown Through Window of SUV During Crash
http://www.herald-citizen.com/view/...red-in----I-40-crash?instance=latest_articles
A lot of blame should go on the driver here but the mother/guardian should really feel guilty for letting her child go into the vehicle, unrestrained, on slippery roads. Very unfortunate for the little girl.

A few stories that aren't getting deserved attention by the media while celebrities passing and killstreaks being tallied up in Norway.
(Ps Not a hit at Winehouse, a famous artist just passed away at the young age of 88 in Great Britain [I think Great Britain])

I read about the Chinese train crash yesterday. it was in the newpaper and the Chinese attempted to cover it all up.There was less coverage because there isnt as much information available on it. Whats your point?

as for the girl being killed in a car accident. as tragic as it is, its happens all over the world every single day. Fatal car accidents get big news coverage here and im sure they do in their respective regions/countries. You wont get much, if any coverage in Ireland for example, of a fatal car accident that happened in the US because people were killed here in road accidents in the last couple of days as well.

Is the Norway even getting as much coverage in the states as it is here? im curious about this.

I can't comment about the USA, but in Canada - the Norway tragedy is much bigger news than Amy Winehouse. She's not ignored, but she's not front page news or anything.

^^exactly. its the same here. Amy Winehouse's death has been sort of in the background. i dont know what people are talking about.

Yeah, maybe its different in America but in England the main story is Norway, the reason Amy Winehouse's death may have slightly overshadowed it was because it was the FRESHER news story, many journalists spoke about this over here, but the main story was always the Norway tragedy.

Before we get into stories which have overshadowed others, where's the thread for the Mumbai terrorits attacks a couple of weeks ago? 24 people died with over a 100 injured, where's your thread about the famine currently going on in East Africa?

Would you have brought these stories to peoples attention if Amy Winehouse didn't die? Or would you have looked over it and gone about your day as normal?

I remember the Mumbai attack being spoken about... maybe not a thread of its own, but its been discussed in past threads. As for the Famine, it's in Somalia no? Well - its most of the African horn at the moment really...

Yeah I meant East Africa, The Mumbai Attacks of July 13th a couple weeks ago, not the 2008 ones. If those of 2 weeks ago were discussed then fair enough.

So instead of being pretentious and asking why I didn't make a thread for every unfortunate event, why don't you make a thread for it?
I can't speak on the coverage of the shootings in the states but I know in Okinawa it's getting little to no coverage at all. Most of my Buddies had heard nothing of it until I mentioned it and had to explain it. I would have never heard of it if I hadn't read it on Yahoo. This thread wasn't created to downplay any Winehouse death or Norway killings, I actually expected people to contribute their own stories, which is why it's just titled RIP and not RIP Train Victims or RIP Tennessee Girl.
And actually the front page of the paper here was the train crash and nothing about the shooting was even mentioned.

I'm not being pretentious. I didn't create one as I don't overly care what is the headline story or which story I feel should be more in the news, I read news, I watch news, I know enough about every news story in the UK and certain places abroad but I don't feel the need to make people aware of news stories that quite frankly no-one will really care about.

We used to have a member called 2pacnbiggie who would post news stories 80% of the time when the board was more active, and no-one really posted in them.

You could have titled this 'The Daily News' thread tbh, as not all news is someone dying. Maybe you could make people aware of feel good news stories?

That's a good idea. We just post the daily news we think others should know about into one thread.

Because if it isn't about someone's menstrual cycle, religion, or anything that could offend someone on a personal level, it will not get replies. Keep a thread with little tidbits of news.

Or read the goddamn newspaper.

Read a news story that said if a Jewish person has three bananas in one sitting, he can fly. Is this true?

Given that they spent forty years in a desert because someone lost a nickel is completely irrelevant to your question.
