Jennifer Bartholomew taught 7th and 8th grade English at Philip Lauer Middle School. She was loved and respected by all of her fellow teachers and her students. She was blessed with the rare ability to make school not only educational but exciting as well. Her students did not just learn in her class, they wanted to learn. But she was more than just a teacher to her students - she was a friend and mentor as well. She took the inititive to be involved with our lives, talking to us, giving us advice, and just being our friend. She made as much of an impact with her smile as she did with her text books.

Three years ago to the day, Mrs. B. (as we called her) died from a blood clot that was caused from complications from her pregnancy. She collapsed during morning services at her church, and later died in the hospital. Her baby was born months premature, but managed to survive. She was named after her mother.

Felt like I should post this. She meant so much to so many people. She was even dubbed "Wilson's guiding light" and an angel by the local papers. Personally, I owe my entire scholastic career to her. She taught me everything I know about writing and articulating myself, and I wouldn't have had the success I did without her. That day and the couple that followed were probably the saddest of my life. It was the only time I've cried in the last 7 years. We all miss her.

hey man, that sucks...but still, you think anyone else on this board knows her??? sad stuff though....
nah, but it's on my mind...knew i made this thread last year...thought i'd show her some love

Damn Matt, sorry to hear that. I know where you're coming from though. If you need to talk just let me know and i'll get on AIM, i'm not usually on there too much.

Many teachers never realize that just doing their job properly can change and effect the lives of soo many. However, there still seems to be a huge amount of teachers who just don't care as much as they should. Especially in the high schools. It's truly a remarkable experience when you come across one of the "Great One's" in your educational career.

RIP

yeah, i was just thinking this....how many good people that actually do something for the world live to 100??? they all die in their 60's or 70's..which is old...but given the fact that someone that was a part of the holocaust is still living today...like a security guard or something from back then....and theuy're almost 90...

" nah, but it's on my mind...knew i made this thread last year...thought i'd show her some love"

its all good...im sure you made other people think of their loved ones that left too early....or just the teachers they've had in their past....

Thanks Syn, but I'm straight. Just missin her a little bit.

I like the way you make sure you never forget her and that you're willing to commemorate her, both on TB and on AIM.
