recording line by line

i could understand recording your verses seperatly, but why would you want to record each line by it self?

Line by line? No.

A lot of MCs do 8x8. Game used to do it a lot you can hear it on documentary although he doesnt do it anymore, but it used to be 8,8 or 4, 12 or something like that.

It is always best to record the verse in ONE take, but 8 and 8 is acceptable. The main thing is, if you cant perform the verse in one go, how are you ever going to rap it live?

Its a retarded thing to do unless you need 2 [ie: overlapping words] - even then you want to try 2 avoid that at all times, cuz like Ruk said how U gon' do that live? U gotta take both aspects of a track in2 consideration when writing a verse.

yes, in fact i am on two compilations that were published worldwide in 1998 and again in last quarter 1999. other members of the clique got signed to parrish smith (pmd of epmd) and another is now in the aftermath production stable. i stopped rapping in favor of producing, then found my real niche as a promoter/organizer (did the 1999 bay area hip hop summit by myself with over a few thousand attendees and a few dozen big names including chino xl, daz and kurupt, guru, dru down (arrived in a stolen suburban permed out), 40, and lots others.
