Is anyone else getting pissed off with this service everytime time you try and download something , it says to many users are trying to download the file . Classic example : the file has been downloaded 0 times already . However , it says , too many users downloading file try again later .

wtf

the number of users that have downloaded the file has got nothing to do with how many is downloading it right now though. when the page says "too many users downloading" i think they are talking about the total amount of users downloading from rapidshare's servers, not the amount of users downloading the exact file you are trying to download.

^^ its the only uploading service i know that keeps the links alive .... for ages
Megaupload keeps files until people stop downloading them (30 days with no activity). Blurg does the same.

SaveFile keeps files around until there is no activity for 14 days.

Upload2 keeps files for a year, but has a small max. file size.

MyTempDir keeps files for 14 days.

I'm not sure about GigaShare.

rapidshare has the most consistent connection though. The other file hostings services either go down alot,or are really really slow most of the times.

Using the Rapidshare server, one may download only a specified amount of files per hour. However, because downloads are tracked by an IP address, one may change their IP address, thus downloading as often as one would like. In most cases, an IP address is assigned directly by one's ISP. Here are the steps necessary in changing the IP address:

1. Clean up your cookies; remove them based on instructions from the browser being used. This is done in the case that one or more cookies may belong to Rapidshare.

2. On Command Prompt type the following:
ipconfig /flushdns (Press Enter)
ipconfig /release (Press Enter)
ipconfig /renew (Press Enter)
exit (Press Enter)

3. As a second option, one may save these commands in a .bat file. Then, run it every time one need to use the Rapidshare server.

4. Remember to clean up all Rapidshare cookies in your temp Internet Files folder upon redoing the commands or rerunning the .bat file

This should solve the problem; the browser should be ready to download as many files as you want from their server.

Notes about how the commands work:
ipconfig /flushdns - Purges the DNS resolver cache
ipconfig /release - Releases all matching connections
ipconfig /renew - Renews all adapters
exit - Exits
