Rap Chart Movement: Lupe Fiasco Debuts Impressively, Chingy Flies Low

Lupe Fiasco's sophomore album, The Cool, debuts at the top spot of Billboard's "Top Rap Albums Chart" this week. The Cool sold 144,000 copies in its opening week.

Soulja Boy's debut album, Souljaboytellem.com, continues to keep registers ringing as it cashes out 91,000 copies this week. After 12 weeks, the album has sold a total of 600,800 units.

Bow Wow and Omarion's collabo effort, Face Off, scans 83,400 units in its second week on the chart. So far, the album has sold 190,600 copies.

Jay-Z is slowly but surely approaching the platinum target. American Gangster ringed out 58,000 copies this week, pushing the album's total to 842,000.

Kanye West's
Graduation continues to dominate the charts. The album, which has sold 1,848,500 copies since its September debut, gets scooped up by 54,900 folks this week.

Birdman's
5 Star Stunna continues to fly high swooping 48,000 units in its second week. So far, the set has sold 134,300 copies.

Wu-Tang's
8 Diagrams continues to struggle on the sales front. After 3 weeks ,the album has only sold 101,100 copies. This week the set only moved 30,000 units.

Chingy's re-alignment with Ludacris and Disturbing The Peace doesn’t seem to have helped his cause to get back on top. The rapper's fourth album, Hate It or Love It, only bags 30,500 copies in its opening week.

50 Cent Curtis sees a 38% increase in sales this week as it shelves off 25,600 CD's this week. After 16 weeks on the chart, Curtis has sold a total of 1,200,800 copies.

Scarface continues to grind it out with M.A.D.E which scoops 19,000 copies this week. So far, the album has sold has 100,300 units.
