After a month-long trial, controversy all across the board, and after less than a dab of deliberations in his child pornography trial, R. Kelly was acquitting of all charges Friday (June 13), ending a drawn out six year wait.

According to the Associated Press, Kelly dabbed his face with a handkerchief, cried softly, and hugged each of his four attorneys after the verdict -- not guilty on all 14 counts -- was read.

The 41-year-old singer was facing 15 years in prison if he had been convicted.

Immediately following the not guilty announcement, Kelly -- surrounded by bodyguards -- left the courthouse without comment. Dozens of fans screamed and cheered as he climbed into a waiting SUV.

"Robert has said all along that he believes in the system, and he believes in God, and when the facts would be presented in court, he would be cleared," Kelly spokesman Allan Mayer said afterward. "He did not expect it to take six years. This has been a terrible ordeal for him and his family. He wants to move forward and put it behind him. He thanks his fans, and he thanks God. He'll have more to say very soon, but right now, he needs time to be with his family."

The singer may go about his life as normal now. Well as normal as can be expected after being accused with the nature of the alleged crimes.

For the last six years, he's been under the watchful eye of the court. Any time he wanted to tour, shoot a video or leave the jurisdiction, he had to seek permission and check in with a probation officer daily while out of town. He was also required to attend nearly every hearing held in this case.
