RIP Tookie, hopefully new generations of kids will still look to him as a role model, even in death. If nothing else, his death should give him some kind of martyrdom within black communities

Dunno about this... I will always say R.I.P. Tookie but he killed 4 people and he should of been exacuted. Yeah, he was a nobel prize nominee but so was hitler. Should Hitler die if was captured? Hell Yeah. So that my opinion. You can bash it if you want, its whatever.

RIP.
You probably shouldn't say Thug In Peace to him...that's the lifestyle he was trying to leave behind.

''Crime doesn't pay'' and everybody should grow up and have that line in mind. Use your head, before you get yourself in trouble - pure and simple.

Let's face it -Tookie was a criminal - no doubt about that - but yeah, he was on ''positive tip'' in prison, so they could change his sentence to life time. They haven't - they had a right not to change it. Williams is dead, it's over.

Just because you admire thugs and gangsters culture and because this is the topic of rap music you probably listen to everyday, some of you treat him, like he's a fuckin saint or something and in my opinion he isn't. Hate me for my opinion - I don't care.

R.I.P.
He was a criminal yes, but what's the point of execution? Surely his rehabilitation and work to help the community is worth more than his death?

Not only that but if you're gonna execute someone for their crimes then execute the man that he was at the time of his crimes, the guy spent nearly half his life in prison and clearly reformed, I really don't know why he had to spend 24 years locked up only to be executed at the end.

Tookie deserved life in prison, not this.

You're entitled to your opinion, and I admire it as it's very easy to go along with the masses even if it isn't something you truly believe. But, I tend to look at Tookie on the whole. I don't believe he commited the murders they convicted him of. But I'm also not stupid and he got away with other crimes. I think he should have been in prison, and possibly for the rest of his life. But for the anti-gang work he done in the last 24 years surely his life was worth saving. No-one is saying he deserved to go free, but it was a loss of a life, a life that had given a lot after his redemption.

So lets not get into the in's and outs of every bad part of his life, and whether he was an evil man, because I think that evidence shows he wasn't. A lot of people are a victim of circumstance, and things happen that are beyond reason and control. Let's just say R.I.P, as the loss of any life is wrong. And let's remember his good contributions before his bad. R.I.P to Tookie. Condolences to his family and friends.

Good post Pittsey :thumb: , and I agree with most of what you said. However, many people are not realizing that he founded the crips, who in turn have killed more people than you can imagine. So, even if he may have not pulled the trigger or shanked many people, he can still be held accountable, which he was. Many innocent people have died because of stray bullets, being in the wrong place at the wrong time, etc... I agree he didn't deserve to die simply because I don't agree with the death penalty.

Yes. But he didn't start the crips with the intention of making them the largest gang in L.A. And not with the intention of them killing people.

Even if Tookie hadn't started the Crips, they'd be another gang in it's place. Just with a different name.

I'm also not saying he should have been set free, I believe prison was a fair punishment. Prison is far from a nice place and living most of your life there is awful. I didn't want him to be killed.

This is my last post on it. Because there's not much more I can add.
