Let's say you were in college for a year (by the time that school year ended it was the middle of January). You are going to go back to college in August. In those 6 - 7 month you weren't in school, are you still considered to be a student? Why or why not?

Edit: An answer like: because you weren't in school at that time; isn't a good enough reason. Give me something more then that please.

As long as you are registered in college you are still considered a student....no?

Let's say you start your course 6 - 7 months prior to your sign up for the course does that still count as you being a student?

nah, you become a bum

between the end of HS and uni, i did fuck all. i worked, yeh, but like, i just felt like a bum ass nicca

^LOL at bum ass nicca.

Rahim, considered a student by who?

It all comes down to this:

The bank charges me an $8.99 fee (which is the non-student rate) for being able to have access to my own personal checking account, which also includes 25 transfers from my debit and/or account during that month. The monthly student fee for having a checking account is $3.45.

I signed up at the bank In February of 2007, and until yesterday, I didn't prove that I was a student. No where on paper does the bank state that there is a time limit that you can prove you are a student, but the problem was that at the time I signed up (in February), I was not attending school then because I finished my final exam in mid January (this was a point that one of bank managers brought up, but I still feel there is a way around it).

The point of me arguing against this fee is because I've been paying $8.99 since February, and since (yesterday) I did show proof through documentation I was a student, they refuse to refund or compensate the full amount of money that they owe me, and as a "favor", will only compensate three months of not having to pay the monthly fee.

So from knowing all this, and also knowing that I wasn't attending school from mid February all the until August 27th, do I still qualify as being a student? Also, does it really matter when you need to declare that you were a student to a bank as long as you were going to school, and will be attending school 6 - 7 months after?

A good point I just thought of is that most high schools run the course of ten months of a whole year. From the end of May until the first or second week of September, you are off for summer holiday, but are you still not considered a student because you will be going back to school in September (considering the fact that you were going back of course)?

I really don't think we can help you here Rahim. I'd say u are a student as long as u registered and well, that's about it.

but if i wasn't going to school from February, and I am going in august..am i still considered a student just because i wasnt going during those months? also i was going to school before that..i was upgrading at a community college so i can get into the course i want..right out of highschool i never took time off or anything...i was at it...even taking courses to build my foundation in certain subjects as well

you have to be attending school to be considered a student by banks. if you can't prove them you were to school during that time (a schedule, a paper from school, etc) they won't give you back the money you paid in extra when you could have paid the student price.

i know that cause its the same for my bf with his bank.

damn...hmmmm.....thats what the bank manager said to me too.....he said he'd compensate me for 3 months but i told him no and that doesn't even cover half of the money i paid, but then i just told him ok ill take the 3 months cause the 3 month compensated is better then nothing right.......and if i ever did come up with some kind of proof i told him i would let him know and we can talk about it cause im still out that 25 bux...but yeah..

at least he'll compensate you 3 months. its better than nothing. if you haven't been in school since february i hardly doubt you'll have any proof that you have been attending when in reality you haven't.

It was your burden to prove that you were a student when you signed up for it. The bank owes you nothing, regardless of their policies. They can't be expected to do a background check on you to find out what you're eligible for. When you didn't ask for the student discount, you were tacitly accepting the notion that you were not a student.

You should be glad they're doing you the favor that they are. From what I can see, all they owe you is to lower your fee from here on out.
