Well, I decided to buy a shot gun to go to the shooting range and have some fun whenever I feel bored.
Anyway, I went and bought a 12 gauge shotgun at a local store. Now, when I told some of my friends, they said that I must have a permit to have this gun.
On the other hand, others say it's ok to have one as long as I keep it in my trunk while traveling.
Now, I looked up some facts on the states website.. and found this.
Anyone with more info please let me know before I get myself into some deep shit. The gun is just for shooting at a shooting range. It's not for protection and what-not.

SHOTGUNS AND RIFLES
Nonconcealable firearms (rifles and shotguns) are not generally covered within the provisions of California Penal Code section 12025 and therefore are not required to be transported in a locked container. However, as with any firearm, nonconcealable firearms must be unloaded while they are being transported. A rifle or shotgun that is considered an assault weapon in California must be transported in accordance with Penal Code section 12026.1.
