Question for ACTUAL Irish people

Nah... I tend to find most Americans still hang on to the nationality of their descendents. It doesn't matter that they've never left the country. Sorry to cliche a whole nation. But...

When I was in Cancun it was Paddy's day. Lots of Americans considering themselves Irish. I proceeded to ask all of them about their Irish-ness, and about the places in their part of Ireland. This led to more heated discussion and eventually to fisticuffs... I was doing my bit for the English cliche of drinking and fighting... :D

My dad is Irish. I do not consider myself Irish in any way at all. I am 100% English.

LOL@ Irish Cinderlad. Hehehehehe

Most of the people who claim to be Irish have no Irish ancestry though. I seriously doubt if they do. EVERYONE can't possibly come from Irish who's White in Chicago. Ireland isn't THAT big, lmao.

Loads of Irish emigrated to America during the famine and also during the 70's and 80's when our economy was shit. A lot of students from Ireland go to Chicago as well for the summer or to work for a while. So yea, i reckon there is a lot of Irish or people with Irish ancestry there.

70-80 MIL are of either Irish or Scottish decent. That is true.

As for St Patties. Please, most people don't even know what St. Patrick's day is about and who the man was. It's just an excuse for people to get drunk. You know what's my excuse to get drunk? I can. That's my excuse.

Anyways, I agree with Ogi. If I wasn't Croatian or Bosnian, I'd like to come back as an Irish lad.

Chicago has a population of about 300,000 Serbs. Google the population of Serbia.

Why? We reproduce. We marry or own. We cling hard to our heritage. Some marry your kind, but most don't.

St Patties? lol. It is St Paddy's Day. Paddy is short for Patrick not Pattie.

Nah, it's Paddies here also. It's just the way people say it, they make it sound like Patties. lol.

Somehow, when I was typing it I was thinking about Patty.

If I had a dollar for every American that, upon them finding out I am English, has told me they are Irish..............well, I'd have a lot of dollars.
