Question about TRUE Breathing OG (not confessions)

If Johnny J remixed the original Breathing, why didn't he use the actual acapella for the track? It's quite apparent that Bizzy's verse is better quality than Pac's verse. I've heard repeatedly over the years that some DJ did the remix, but I cannot remember the name.

he did use it, you have to keep in mind that pacs verse is old so its not going to sound as crisp. it was also on a dj kayslay mixtape about 2 years later after its debut

That's interesting. I guess that I didn't realize that the vocal quality would degrade so quickly as compared to other tracks. Since you seem to know quite a bit about Confessions, who did not give approval for the track? I always thought that it was Seals and Croft since Confessions samples Summer Breeze. Bizzy remarked that Seals and Croft disliked Rap, so they did not approve a sample for his album. I always thought that the sample was Confessions... Do you know if that's correct?

yea it would surprise me if its unfinished because catchin feelins and pacs life were the same way. id say most likely the reason they werent finished was because guest artists had verses they had to rap and write, and pac was just waitin on them.

I don't know why people say or think that "Pac's Life" was Unfinished,

Why would Pac not finish it? maybe it was just ment to be a Intro? that is what I think.

would make no sense to have someone else on the song since it is "Pac's Life"

but I could be wrong.

who the hell told you that??? quit making up bullshit
I'm not making it up... I can't remember who said it but I remember it being a reliable source, otherwise I wouldn't say it.

yea, even though its an isley brothers sample, the isley brothers covered the seals and croft song so they would need the permission from them, and since they dont like hip hop...however, i also heard that afeni didnt approve of the track...

also the reason bizzy may sound different is also the mics, bizzy did not record with pac, he was just added in for his album.

and now that i think about it it might have been dj predator mixtape...

When was the DJ Predator mixtape released? Was that the first release of Confessions that started in the middle of Bizzy's verse and seemed to be CDQ? It was also tagged several times, if I remember correctly. As far as I know, the cut up tagged version is still the best quality that I have heard.

I've also always wondered why Confessions was "re-released" to radio stations around 2000. By re-released I am refering to the fact that it was played on a Nashville station years prior to it being played country wide.

...it was played there because they had gotten one of the extremely limited promo cd's with the song on it. there are two promo cd's out, one fake, one legit, both with three tracks.

If seals and croft wouldnt let the sample clear for "confessions" becuz they dont like rap, then why would they let it clear for "summer breeze" by DJ Quik?

Well, it seems odd that a Tennessee radio station would wind up receiving a limited promotional CD. From a marketing standpoint, that doesn't make sense to me. Next, why would the song be played only once if they had a promo CD for it? I remember that Bizzy was being interviewed by the station and introduced it as verse 1, part 1, which fueled rumors that the song was not full. Since the song was not played again for several years, I would venture to guess that Bizzy brought a copy of the track with him for the interview.

Dante, is there a way to differentiate between the bootleg CD and the official CD?

the song first debut on the tennessee station like in 98 before bizzy's album came out. it had the godfather intro theme. that was leaked in extremely horrid condition, about 2 years later it reappeared on that mixtape. then the full 3:21 version leaked which is the best quality version

Bizzy explained this and said he and pac were supposed to hook up around the days he got killed. Bizzy recorded a verse and sent it to DR and they mixed him in with the verse pac did for 'Breathin' but i don't know if they completely used a new beat and sound or just tweaked it a little. I never knew Johhny J remixed it, tnx for that info
