Film & TV Quentin Tarantino in talks to Write & Direct a new "Friday The 13th" film.

The last 12 hours have been crazy. It kicked off with IGN FilmForce reporting that Quentin Tarantino is in final negotiations to write and direct an all new "Friday The 13th" movie for New Line Cinema. Over the weekend there was talk of a new Jason Voorhees film which would be significant for some reason, now it seems we know why.

This won't involve Freddy in any way like 2003's "Freddy vs Jason", rather New Line plans to pitch this as "The Ultimate Jason Voorhees Movie". The project will be a co-venture between New Line and Paramount Pictures.

It is expected to be a "quickie" that could get underway as early as this year. A William Morris Agency rep advised the site that Tarantino has "not yet" been offered the job while refusing to elaborate any further.

A few hours later though they confirmed to the trades that he has agreed to an intitial meeting this week with New Line execs about the project (hardly anyting like final negotiations). If the film does develop, it will be the first non-Miramax project for QT.

I'm a HUGE F13 fan, and if this goes down It's the best news to EVER happen to the series, and I'm almost positive Jason may finally be killed off if QT does it.

fridays are usually good and if QT does a horror should be interesting but sux if its a quickie movie those tend to be rushed and end up being really sucky...

Freddy Vs Jason was more of a comedy than anything and it wasn't all that good itself.

Only thing I see coming out of this film different would be that Jason somehow learned Kung Fu ninja kicks or some shit lol..

lmao I saw most of it.. I have a very good memory of that day. I remember going in there, gettin head, watching Jason X and damn near passing out watching it. Then i had to piss so i went to the bathroom and one of the stalls had blood on the toilet, toilet seat, the walls of the stall and on the floor.. I jus walked out lol

So how exactly is Tarantino over rated? ohh i guess you never saw Resevoir Dogs or Pulp Fiction or From Dusk Til Dawn or maybe even Four Rooms. Perhaps you only saw Kill Bill vol.2

Tell me, whos a more creative writer/director? Not to mention he puts the best dialogue in his movies.

Unless youre referring to his recent work wich is just releasing foreign films and slappin his name on them, then ur a fuckin hater.

I am unflinching in my opinion that Pulp Fiction is my favourite movie of all time.

I have seen Reservoir Dogs - it was good, but I preferred City On Fire.

Saw From Dusk Till Dawn - I liked it. Was it great? Nope. It was entertaining & the writing was good (remember Tarantino contributed only the screenplay here). Rodriguez did a nice job performing it & Clooney put it a solid performance, with Keitel & Lewis stealing the show in my opinion.

Four Rooms - I haven't saw this & didn't go out my way to, as I heard it was somewhat bloated.

Kill Bill Vol. 1 - alright but nothing special. The geekiest of movie geek's wet dream.

Kill Bill Vol. 2 - Better than the first, entertaining but still not anything special.

True Romance - while it remains overlooked by some, I feel this is a really strong movie. Violent? Yes. Morally dubious at times? Yes. But, entertaining? Yes. Well written? Yes. Great cast, good story & solid directing. I think Tarantino has to share the plaudits with Scott equally on this one.

Also, I quite liked Natural Born Killers but, while Tarantino obviously contributed heavily, that probably had more to do with Stone's direction & Harrelson's switch from the norm.

Jackie Brown was one of Tarantino's better movies I think. A skillful adaptation of Leonard's novel. Less 'messy' than his other movies to date, & is a movie that could easily silence some of his critics. Pam Grier was exceptional btw.

I should also take this moment to say that the sequels to FDTD were pretty basic.



So do I hate Tarantino? Or his work? I don't think so.

I am a fan of his work, I am less of a fan of those who have him an an exhalted position.

Scorcesse, Kubrick & Burton are a few directors who I rate better than Tarantino.

Soctt, Cameron, Stone, Spielberg, Eastwood (of late), Welles, De Palma & the Coen brothers are others who I consider in the same league as Tarantino.

As for writers: Stone, Welles & Nicholas Pilleggi (Goodfellas & Casino) are better writers IMO.

Andrew Kevin Walker (Se7en, 8MM) & the Coen brothers are also in the same league.

I must admit though, i don't too much about writers.



And if that sounded a bit like a derogatory remark about the 'foreign films. Well, Hero, IMO, is better than all of Tarantino's works bar PF & JB. I doubt you have seen it...
