Tried heavy metal last, now I'm going for punk.

Please post some of your favorite punk artists or albums or just freepost about punk.

The artists I've got on my list so far are the Ramones, Anti-Nowhere League, Sex Pistols, The Clash, Bad Brains, Dead Kennedys, FEAR, Black Flag, The Misfits, The Stooges, The Jam and The Damned.

Big Black might be a little hardcore to start out with, but definately check 'em at some point.

Check out an album by Refused called "The Shape Of Punk To Come".

....not strictly punk, but don't forget to check out Sonic Youth and The Melvins, as well.

Yeah please upload Never Mind The Bollocks for me. I lent mine to somebody and never got it back :(

I have a fair bit of Ramones stuff, could use maybe the Bad Brains album too though.

Which one would you recommend? I've not heard anything about which is the better of the two - only heard a handful of Bad Brains songs.

I could have sworn I posted in here. Hmm.

Anyway, check out The Saints. They're not as well known as The Ramones or The Sex Pistols, but they came up at the same time and really had a big influence on later bands.

I'd also recommend The Descendents, TSOL, The Germs, Minor Threat (the "godfathers" of hardcore punk, along with Black Flag and Bad Brains), Strung Out, The Buzzcocks, The Distillers, Stiff Little Fingers, NOFX, early Green Day, early Offspring, and - if you like Flogging Molly - The Dropkick Murphys.

I like MxPx cover of "Shout" that was on the 25th anniversary DVD of Animal House.

Chron, thanks for the link. Been meaning to buy it again for a long while, this will do in the meantime.
