Ok so this is my biggest weakness by far. I hate getting up in front of an audience and i can't fix it!! I would consider muself a confident person in many situations but when it comes to presentations i just suck. i'm 3rd year uni but i haven't always struggled...

It was about 2nd year, and after a really difficult semester i had to do an oral presentation. When i got up i hadn't rehearsed and i just cracked. If you flashback to 8 mile - that was me. I froze i couldn't spit anything for about 3 minutes... when i finally started speaking, i was so nervous and you could tell by my crackling voice. I walked away from that thinking that it would never happen again... Mainlyl because i thought i would do everything to ensure it couldn't. Anyway that was where i was wrong.

Ever since that moment it has left me scared! I always practise my presentation at least 2 days before the deadline, continuously, but as soon as the time draws close i'm stressing out of my mind. When i get up in front of the audience my legs wobble, i can't breathe properly and i literally shake in my shoes. Its fucked. It takes me at least 5 minutes to settle my nerves. I did a bit of research on the internet to why this is, and a physcologist basically exlained that my mind weighs up the consequence of fucking up again, as so bad it injects fear into me - hence the nerves.

So my question is what should i do??

surely people have gone through the same things?

No actually I didn't go through that. I have no problem with speeches, most of the time I even kinda enjoy it, I feel like the audiance is on my pity lol and I seriously I usually do one of the best presentations in course.

Anyway, what could help you? Take lessons! Look around for courses that teach u how to do it, I wasn't exactly shy before I had to take those but they helped me I gotta say. Plus experience helps I guess, I had to do so many presentations, I don't really care no more.

This is rather easy. You take a gatorade bottle, pour the gatorade out. Pour some grey goose in it and some red bull. Drink it all but make sure it's enough for you to develop the buzz needed to have confidence but not enough to lose your ability to think properly.

I had to do alot of presentations in front of people in college. Some went ok and others went shit. I find that i am more nervous at different times. I even downed half a bottle of Vodka before a presentation last christmas.it went well.

It's quite easy if you put yourself into a specific mind state before going there. You have to be like "fuck everything else" and just focus on what you've got to say. Don't let any other thoughts in your mind disturb you, especially during the presentation.
I'm not the outgoing and loud type of person, I'm stressed before any public speaks but when I get there I know it's ok.

i did my oral presentation on women bring rape upon them selves this year. for some reason i was pretty relaxed, probably because i did the topic to piss people off. usually i hate public speaking

haha yeah i had an hour presentation last semester so i put half g of cola up my nose lol. It worked i guess but i wouldn't do it again... too expensive and i really want to battle my problem rather than hide from it :O

Yeah but that is really is hard to do. I guess once i've downed the bottle of rocket fuel it'll be alot easier lol

^ Yeah this was suggested by a friend the other week. I'm definately thinking about it...

Don't be ashamed or whatever to take those lessons, like I said, I've been there. I was able 2 do good presentations before but it helped me too. Everybody can take these lessons and improve, there is nothing wrong with tryin to move on.

Well, it's rather simple. You will only get better if you do more presentations. Kind of a "duh" thing. I was just giving you advice on how to succeed at the one you were going to have. :)

i dont like public speaking that much either but think about it in the form of someone who doesnt know how to ice skate..u fall down a few 100 times before u acctually know how to ice skate. my advice...do whatever u can to make urself feel comfortable...even if u fall down a few 100 times...just picture urself as the best in the world man because your the best. ALL EYES ON YOU
