Technology PS3 vs. Wii

The Wii is fucking great, I cant wait to play it. Anyone that cant see the fun side of the Wii must suffer from a real poor social life.
Example:
You and your friends are drinking in someones living room before heading out to the clubs and you all decide to play some games. Do you:
a) want to play the same old boring game, albiet it looks slightly better but you cant tell through your beer goggles anyway, or;
b) want to play a new type of game where you can drunkenly throw your arms around, or test your aiming skills.
There is a reason why Buck Hunter is the best arcade game ever found in a bar/club, and there is a reason the Wii will rock my world, and that reason is alcohol.
Example:

That and the Xbox 360 streams shit from my media center laptop which is pretty dope to watch music videos / downloaded movies on my TV.
lmao alright I see everybody got they're point on how best they're preffered console is. I guess it's all about personal prefferation. People who now defend Wii like that probably planned to buy it before for some reason. Ok maybe really Wii is worth buying as you get a cheap console that will play some fun titles letting you play from time to time. I guess it depends on what you want you're console for. I red really a lot about the new gen consoles. I've done my own research and decided to buy PS3. Of course not the premium version but the basic one and not just when it'll come out. I'll wait like half a year untill the price will drop. Personally i couldn't picture not having for example GTA4 or new metal gear on console because playing on PC sucks for me. Plus having PS3 you don't have to worry about upgrading you're hardware for few good years. Also most of PC games comes out on PS. Always Ps got the most titles.
If it comes to PS3 technically i totally can't agree that it's nothing compared to PC's. It's construction and chipsets used are really great. 3.2ghz Cell processor with 8 cores will do it's job. Especially when each core is responsible for something different for ex. 1 core is used for game physics only. Plus games are written especially for that console so they don't need that much power as PC. Ps2 that is really weak today and was when it came out still handles some of the new titles. It means that PS3 is really good for the future. WII IBM processor with ATI graphics won't handle any advanced games soon. Or maybe will but with worse graphics, resolutions, fps etc.
But as always. Also this time you get what you pay for.
That's my personal opinion on the situation.
P.S. God bless Sony that they kept the old pad. It's perfect so why change it?

And yeah, Gran Turismo is awesome fun. But are you willing to pay $00-$900 for the game? When you buy the game it comes with NO cars and NO tracks. And you don't win cars anymore. You buy them. Yes, PS3 is cool for the future....but how long into the future? Sony went too far with this. Not many people can afford to pay $600 for a standard, regular console with pretty visuals. It's a shame really. I loved the PS1 and PS2....but why is Sony fucking up now? Did you see the link I posted before? Even Gamestop says the PS3 isn't going anywhere. They're all for the Wii. There's a reason, man. It's an awesome system, and that is the real system that is setting the standards...which is why Microsoft is getting nervous, praising Nintendo for their innovation, and the reason why Sony tried to bite off Nintendo for about 8 years now.

You took that out of context. It doesnt mean it has the same spec hardware, it just means it is set up the same and has the same programing language thus it can be programmed for in a similar fashion.
Its like people used to say that the Xbox was basically a PC, it didnt perform as such in the real world, but theoretically it was set up in a similar fashion.

I can see why people enjoy the Wii. Rukas said it best, it's a great social console. Drunk + Wii = great fun and laughter, but honestly, how often is one drunk with friends + everyone heads to your home to play it. I'd rather be around ppl and jump around like a mule, then alone. I'm more of a Sony guy, and most probably for the sport games. Hell, maybe I just hate Nintendo cause Sega has always been my #1 console. lol.

Technology is moving towards most realistic gameplay. I would prefer to play Nintendo DS than Wii as i don't see a big difference.
Wii doesnt bring any possibilieties for game designers. PS3 doesn't limit them at all. Everything will work on it.
Oh by the way.. Ps3 standard version is going to cost 499$. That gives <400 after 6-9 months. Think about buying wii again. I'm trying to convince you as buying wii is a waste of money in my opinion. Buy it only if u want a cheap console, liked gamecube or Mario as 95% of games now and about 70% in the future will be produced by nintendo and it's companies.

Well, I agree and don't agree about the whole social thing. PS3 can be a social console too. So can the 360. The Wii too...but I wouldn't just call it that and that's it. The controller is so sensitive that you don't need to wave your hands in the air or act stupid. Sure, it will be fun playing WarioWare, Mario Party, Super Monkey Ball, and Mario Kart with your friends...but playing Zelda (Best franchise ever!!!), Metroid, Super Mario, Red Steel, Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest will be awesome for players who prefer to play individually. By the way FlipMo...do you like Madden? I hear Madden 07 for 360,etc. wasn't all that great. BUT...guess what? Reviewers from magazines, websites, and amatuer testers have claimed it to be the top version of the game. Why? Extra features and more gameplay value. Check this out, man. So far the Wii version of Madden is the best...and it hasn't even been released yet. It's gonna be a sick game.

I see a difference. Innovation, and no innovation. GameStop is right when they say the PS3 has nothing going for it. They are focusing on promoting the Wii. Why? It's virtually limitless. And YES, the PS3 does limit game makers because it can't do what the Wii can! Sure, the PS3 can SHOW us nice visuals. But does that really make the games better? NO! Mario Hoops 3 on 3 has the best visuals the DS has ever seen! What ratings did it get? mediocre/bad! Why? Because the gameplay sucked! On the other hand, Mega Man ZX got good ratings! The visuals were 2D like on the GBA. Why did it get good ratings? Because it was fun! Graphics don't upgrade games! Gameplay does!

I'm also looking at it from a general point of view. You know G4tv? It's a gaming/technology channel. For the 2005 best racing game it was Gran Turismo 4 VS. Mario Kart DS. What won? Mario Kart. It's all about the fun factor IMO. Nothing to do with realistic visuals. Also...what's more real than actually doing the actions yourself? What's more real....pressing A to make Link (from Zelda) stab an enemy, or moving your hand forward to make him thrust his sword into the enemy? If you're looking for realism and you're going to buttons for it...then you're looking in the wrong place. But again...preferences, I suppose.

I can't picture not having GTA4 either, which is why I'll wait for it to come out and (probably) buy an XBox360.
As for the PS3 having the most titles, I wouldn't bank on it. A lot of developers are shifting away from Sony. Microsoft have snapped up some games as exclusives that previously would have been multi-console, and developers like Nintendo's new controller and the new options it presents to them.
You seem to think that "advanced = better graphics". You can only improve the graphics so much before people stop caring.
I'd much rather play Madden on the Wii, even if the graphics are worse than the other versions, because it's a different way of playing the game. It looks a lot more fun, it's a lot more involving. That will be the case for a lot of people.
