I know the Old Testament and the Q'uran have some very interesting scientific truths that I would think would be ahead of their time, but can the people who follow organised faiths list any line of scientific truth or fulfilled prophecy from their holy book which sticks out? thanks.

You didn't mention the New Testament, which is the most scientific of them all. Virtually the entire field of Quantum Mechanics is being described in there. It shows how Jesus rose from the dead by making use of the baryon-annihilation process, which is responsible for all matter that now exists in the cosmos. In the early universe, this process was used to convert radiation into matter. Jesus reversed the process, converting the matter of his body into invisible radiation made up of neutrinos. This was accomplished by electroweak quantum tunneling, and the key reaction was proton plus electron goes to neutrino plus antineutrino. An observer viewing this conversion of his body into neutrinos would see Jesus' body "dematerializing." Reversing the dematerialization resulted in Jesus materializing apparently out of nothing. Jesus used this process to give us a hint of how to do so ourselves. We must gain control of this process in order to prevent the violation of unitarity in the far future, a violation that would destroy the universe if it occurred. By dying and rising again, Jesus not only paid the price for our sins but also gave us the knowledge to save the entire universe from destruction. We can use this process today.

Creation of loaves and fishes is just materialization, as is converting water into wine. All of Jesus' physical miracles can be accomplished the same way. Christianity should become a branch of physics.

Looking for scientific answers in a religious text

Listen....it's called believe. Think about it. believe. That's what a religion is, it's not based on facts that can be proven. It would be called knowledge then but it's called believe. U are not supposed to look for scientific facts if u read a religious text.

@Jokerman - still unique man. :D Gotta love it.

Don't agree man. You have faith because you believe something is right- you don't think something is right because you have faith. It's a ridiculous concept for people to believe in religion without anything to back it up except blind faith that something written on a piece of paper 2000 years ago was the word of god.

^But thats is exactly what it is. People having faith that all that is written is true and that their messiah will guide them down the right path.

I don't think i remember anything scientifically written in any of the holy books. However, the stories within have some truths to them. Whether you believe it or not is entirely up to you.

Although you know the shapes on mosks? Not too long ago a scientist who works for Nasa discovered that they are mathematically ingenious and that the field of mathematics it belongs to (forgot what exactly it was) is just starting to be explored now-a-days. To be able to do that back then is very impressive.

Thats all i can think of right now, sorry.

What the fuck does all of that mean? Basically that quantum physics can be related to Jesus entering hell and clearing the path to Heaven before rising from the dead?

The Catholic Church founded scientology at the start but it sort of didn't prove religion right. Religion at this moment in time is based on Faith alone for most ppl.

What is faith if what you believe in is proven?

But what does "anything to back it up" mean? Of course people have experienced stories, saw things, felt things, dreamed things etc that made them believe in a higher power..... but that is no proof for no one else but me. So what are you asking for if your want something to back it all up? A picture of God? That won't happen.

About the piece of paper, well u know, I don't follow blind what's written somewhere plus I don't believe that the holy bible felt from the sky, written by God, I don't. I rather look at it as knowledge that is passed on to other generations. U can read the bible without believin in God and still find useful advices or stories you might be able 2 relate 2. And that is how you can back it up - for yourself - but hardly for anyone else, there is no scientific proof. Faith is a personal thing.

Actually I think there is something miraculus about that. I think either the Vatican or a museum in France has a cloth with Jesus' face on it. Maybe I'm wrong but it's in the back of my mind.

Same as Tupac's music. He mightn't have been god but it's more modern so you can maybe relate to it more.

I'm sayin the same as Menace, u don't have to believe in the Bible to make use out of it.

The Shroud of Turin. They had tests on the cloth and it showed it was only 1300 years old.

^^ He must have stayed around for a bit then lol..

Edit: Actually there's some thing ppl don't want to picture.

There's another one of Our Lady of some place in Mehico which is also thought to be fake.

No, there is a rag in Turin (Italy) where it's said that it has Jesus face on it, but as far as I know, scientist don't believe that (I don't believe it neigther).

^^ Yeah a shroud (i.e. what covered his body in the tomb). It's thought to be just a paintin though. I thought there was another cloth used to wipe the sweat from his eyes.

i heard a talk once a long time ago called 'the quran, the bible and science' i can't remember much of it but it explains many of the scientific aspects regarding religion and science

Science and religion are linked in the way that both are used by people to explain things. The difference lies that the answers science gives are based on rationality and perception, the answers that religion give are, well, made up.

People believe what they want to believe. If you look deeper you might think that these contradictions were created by God as a test of our faith (same as ther bein so many religions if you believe that). If not, each to their own I guess.
