The oppression of blacks back in the day (in North America) is not the same as the oppression of homosexuals at the moment. To think it's the same is just ignorant and disrespectful to blacks that lived back in those days. Gays aren't considered 2nd class citizens and forced to go to all gay schools where no books or financing would be provided. They don't have separate wash facilities for homosexuals, nor do they have to sit in the back of the bus, and they also have a right to speak out without having to be lynched.
That being said, now if you're comparing it to countries like Jamaica (the worst place, it's all over their dancehall music), or even Eastern Europe then it's fucked up.
In Croatia for example, being a homosexual is the worst thing possible. You don't come out and say you're gay. Marriage has existed long before Religion did, I would LOVE to know when Marriage got owned by Religion? I can understand say the Catholic church not allowing gay marriage held in their churches or by their Priests etc but whether two people want to commit the rest of their lives to each other should not be a Religious issue.

I wouldn't go so far as to say the fight for Gay Rights is the same as the Civil Right's movement, that was so extreme compared unless your talking somewhere like Jamaica/Croatia etc. But there is definate discrimination that needs to be addressed, I do think our generation and those after will make this right, but first we need to get Religion out of Politics.

No, less kids are needed in countries where you can't control population growth. China, India, and especially African countries where they reproduce at rapid rates and can't even feed em. This is where 'we' ... westerners, have to help out. Canada for one, gives wheat to China to help.

Canada has legalized gay marriage, next week Parliament is going to have a vote on marrying animals. In two months they're having a vote to allow people to marry inanimate objects.

I'll just reply to you and it's meant to be for FlipMo too.
A comparison can be made between the gay and lesbian struggle now and the civil rights struggle in three ways:
1. Both communities are discriminated against by society by being seen as "not normal". You, mr. son, are my evidence for that in terms of the gay and lesbian community. Blacks, too, were seen as not normal because they weren't white and they were considered mentally inferior.
2. Both communities have not been extended full legal rights. The Blacks couldn't vote, the gay and lesbian community cannot have same-sex marriage.
3. Some time from now (let's say, decades), the gay and lesbian community will be extended full legal rights and homophobia will be looked at with the same disgust as racism.
What FlipMo did was find ways that the comparison can't be made and that is fully legitimate. The two struggles can be compared on one level and not on another. If you want to come in and say that one is more important than the other, that's fine. It doesn't hinder my argument in any way.
