My files are all organized and placed the way it was placed originally before i did the back up. no need to delete a single file. but Why even create 'restore' folder when i can just directly put it where i need to put. its about 40gb and coying and pasting twice would take forever. so why not just paste it straight to where i would place afterwards. unless you saying for safety.makadon said:create a new folder on your hard disk and rename it restore, then copy all the files from the external hard disk and paste them to restore folder. Go through the files and keep what you need and delete whatever you dont.
makadon said:by the way put your program files on C: beacuse thats the windows partition put all of your data such as pictures and movies on D: beacuse if windows crashes which is installed on C: then you still have all of your data which will be on D: plus you computer will run faster that way.
I thought it was other way around, personal files on C: and program files on D: because C: has 110gb and D: has 37gb. originally i was planning putting program files on little drive which is D: and personal files on C: because that one has way more space. 37gb wont be enough for me for personal files. the back up drive is only 40gb itself and theres more stuff to be placed so 37 definetly wont be big enough.
You sure if windows crashes or anything bad goes in its going to C: drive? maybe then i can somehow switch windows partition to D: if there is a way? because 37gb definelty is not big enough.
Btw, some of the programs that i was just installing back on, you right the windows partition is on C: drive because all the program files were going through C: I changed as much program files destination as possible to D: But a lot of them are still on C: drive.
