over the past couple of years i've heard a lot more about people economizing weddings. is this because i'm getting old so i hear about weddings and don't tune them out? maybe, with the divorce rate what it is, people aren't comfortable with pouring their wallets into what isn't really a once-in-a-lifetime celebration or whatever anymore. hmmm.
 
weddings apropariately should be kept that simple for here til the 11th year fuck the cake prices & added taxes on the small things

In regards to weddings, a friend of mine spent a fortune of his money (and his families money for that matter) on his wedding less than two months ago. He is already getting divorced.

Yeah fuck all that big white wedding shit, it's fucking pointless.

Me and my wife got married in Vegas, with her two house-mates as witnesses. What more do you need? Getting married is enough stress as it is without pointlessly adding to it. Yeah I probably pissed off a few family members, but who gives a fuck? It's mine and my wife's personal decision and no-one else's.

As for your friend, that sucks, but don't you have to be married for a certain amount of time before you can get a divorce? I don't know this but that's what I heard. Two months? Damn. That is fucked up. Surely things were going fine before the wedding, otherwise why did they go ahead with it? And if things were going fine, some serious shit must have gone down for it to fuck up within two damn months. Most people who spend a lot of money on weddings go away on honeymoon for at least a couple weeks as well!
 
^^ Thing is they lived together for years before hand, so it's not like they rushed into things. I havent spoken to him (he's my cousins cousin and we dont really keep in touch), but word is that she planned it, gold digger, ect ect. But who knows.

Having said that, I would like a nice wedding, but id rather it was special than big, my girl agrees, so its alright.

Moral of the story is, PRENUMP!

I agree, I'd want something special and not big. Something small and intimate... depending on how much money I have at the time, I want my wedding either in La Republica or in Greece. I've not decided yet but me and my boyfriend agree. We'd just fly out our parents and have a small simple ceremony that means a lot to us.

Yeah we were actually talking about doing the same thing. Flying our familes and closest friends somewhere and incoporating the wedding with the honey moon, getting married on the beach somewhere.

My girl is Buddhist, so a church wedding is out of the picture for her. So I think a beach would be nice.

But hey, we're getting ahead of ourselves here. I wont totally settle down until Im about 30.

i basicaly have to agree with everyone, however in my mind dependin on the person and if this was a time and age you could you could go all out on some shit like that then i would do it.

but how things go now
you just have to believe & have somethin special like said unless somehow you get the money to throw around but still you should look at your own relationship talk with them see what you all really want out of it

its just that it's a point nowadays that its all business & people out lookin to scam your ass on every little thing but i mean its almost without sayin you would watch out for the shit but some epople go head first into things like weddings w/o thinkin or mean relaly analyazin as they normally would
