not to be a total dick, but fyi - that makaveli 2cd is unofficial.

i don't know why everyone thinks this but it's flat out wrong.

allow be to get on my soapbox. the life span of a cd-r is over 100 years (for a quality brand), and the lifetime of a pressed cd is at minimum double that. records have proven not to be the case, if you have ever tried to play one from even the 50's. the degradation is translated to sound that's quite apparent. vinyl records and cd's are both composed of high viscosity plastics. these materials are similar to windows in that they arrear to be solids, but are actually closer to liquids than solids. if you look at an old colonial house that's 200 years old you can see that windows have a triangular shape to them on side profile view. in time, while stored vertically, they sagged. the same happens to records and yes, even cd's. the catch here is that vinyl records are more susceptable to environmental conditions, and there is no flawless way to store them. store a record vertically, in time you get a sag or a warp, store them horizontally, you get pressed in grooves from compound pressure and therefore skips. additionally, vinyl records ara analog, so they can never produce the sound quality of a digital cd. finally, cd players skip with huge and deep scratches that oversampling cannot regulate, but the stylus on a record player picks up dist, hair, and even air flow around the needle and translates these events to sound. i don't know why a lot of people believe it's true, but for these reasons and the thousand more that i could expound upon, vinyl is NEVER better than cd. ...that is, unless you're an old schooler and enjoy the inherent hiss and crackle that provides depth and warmth on vinyl playback.

firstly, it is a VINYL 2 disc (2 vinyl discs) and yes, it is anofficial deathrow release :thumb:. it is rare, because you can only buy the remastered version (at least from 2001 upwards), so finding an original pressing/release that is shrinkwrapped is inconceivably difficult.

and secondly, i partly agree with your comment on vinyls, however, saying they are in no way better would get you a lot of flame from audiophiles who agree that vinyl delivers a warmer sound. vinyls are not affected by oxygen, as cds are. they get "crackles" and stuff from incorrect storage and/or use. if you store a vinyl in a cool, dry place it will retain the quality of the recordings within for longer than a CD (yes, even pressed), if stored in these conditions also. i have nothing against CDs, i own more CDs than Vinyls. And i dont know why you said that pressed CDs are of higher quality. It is just a CD, and the ones that factories use come from manufacturers that also develop CD-Rs for public use, and i dont think the CDs that are made for pressing factories are better than the best CD-Rs out there, especially the TDK Audio CD-Rs which i use.
and vinyl material does not run if it is stored vertically in a cool place, regardless of the time it is in such a position.
but, CDs may be better than Vinyl, i dont really know and i dont really care, it is 2pac so i buy it. that is all there is to it. dont get me wrong, i would NEVER buy a recording on a vinyl if is available on CD and it is not something i intend to store as part of my collection.
where possible, i purchase both releases (vinyl and CD) because you can never have enough releases of one product. that is why dante, i assume that you collect 2pac items from different countries etc. if you are serious about expanding your collection of 2pac items.

and to reiterate, my makaveli release is official. :)

i thought you meant the makaveli 2cd, which exists but is simply the album shrinkwrapped with a cd single. i have never heard anyone refer to records as discs, but hey words are words.

pressed cd's are manufactured with a completely different process than authoring a cd-r (pressing as opposed to popping bubbles), and this creates a different lifespan. i would never claim that there is audible difference, just in terms of durability and lifespan. vinyls are very nice if you live in a vacuum devoid of dust, but otherwise you're literally dragging something across another object's surface to retrieve data, and this process is inherently flawed. i agree that some records sound better than cd, because the hiss and crackle adds warmth, but for modern hip hop's reliance on digital processing, a digital playback mechanism is most appropriate. even that baing said, i'd kill for one of these:
