Police believe an old grudge may have been behind the multiple shooting of New York hip-hop DJ Carl Blaze early Thursday morning in Upper Manhattan.

The Power 105.1 personality, whose real name is Carlos Rivera, was rushed to Harlem Hospital Center where he was listed in critical condition following his 4:33 a.m. shooting inside of a building. In a statement, police said a white-metal diamond chain that the 30-year-old had been wearing before the shooting was missing.

However authorities are now focusing on an old grudge, not robbery, as the primary motive for the shooting. Police have said Blaze had just finished working a party at the X-Bar in the Bronx on Wednesday. After dropping friends off, he headed to an apartment located at 578 Academy St. in Inwood, where he was shot 13 times (and not the 16 times as previously reported) and stripped of his necklace.

Police are now looking to question a 20-year-old female rapper named "Ivy." Blaze was gunned down in the foyer of her apartment. A witness at the scene told police that he grabbed onto Ivy's leg after being shot multiple times and yelled out "Ivy! Ivy!." The woman calmly replied ""Carlos, you're going to be OK. You're going to be all right."

Meanwhile, Power 105.1’s Web site has posted well wishes for Blaze. "We're all thinking of you, Carl," read a message. The DJ's fans and friends are also showing support on his MySpace Web site, http://www.myspace.com/djcarlblaze.
