Pitbulls Killed Due To Denver Ban

Pitbulls are not dangerous. And shit like this really pisses me off. Instead of taking it out on the poor animals they should take it out on the stupid owners who raised the dogs the wrong way. I've had dozens of pitbulls in my life and NONE of them have ever been mean. It's just the way they are raised. You get your typical stupid kid who gets a pitbull and first thing they do is start making the dog really mean by beating it and raising him the wrong way. It's not the dogs fault. ANY dog would grow up to be mean if they were raised the way those "bad" pitbulls are raised. Fuck anybody who actually agrees with wat these people are doing and fuck anybody who actually agrees with them!

^^i dont agree with it. but if there was a law in place banning Pitbulls in Denver then people living there shouldnt have went and got one.

I love dogs. of course i dont want to see this. I couldnt ever trust some breeds though.

Some dogs can turn vicious btw. it happened one of my dogs. He was always vicious towards other dogs which i guess is the case for alot of males dogs. The fucker beat the shit out of any dog he came up against but there was a point when he started attacking humans as well and also killed our neighbours greyhound. we had no choice but to put him down. He was a great dog and was well looked after. It doesnt matter the breed though. If they become vicious, they will do damage. It just seems that Pitbulls can do alot more harm if they do.
 
^^yea. i think the breeding was a bit off in him tbh. he was a cross between a springer spaniel and a retriever. He was always petted, fed well and we spent most of the time playing with him because he used to retrieve everything. Thats why i liked him so much. We play this sport here called hurling which involves hitting a small ball, similar in size to a baseball, with a stick called a hurley. The ball would go everywhere when we were out playing it. It would go into long grass, bushes etc, but he could always find it and bring it back. If it was on top of a hedge he would climb up and get it. He was a great dog up to a certain point when he just seemed to go crazy.

Well the "bite and hold" method vs the "snapping" that most dogs do (which makes ppl wary of these dogs) is a trait of the terrier family.. not simply a pit bull or AmStaff.

Terriers often see other dogs as prey.. so they shake and hold occasionally as they would do a rabbit or other small game.

This isn't something that should be held against the breed, this is what it was bred to do.

The aggression comes from poor ownership quite often (not saying this is true in your case) but dogs need to be trained early on so that they know commands like "no" and will immediately obey you. An obedient dog shouldn't be a problem. If the dog has a lack of structure or anxiety b/c of how he was handled early on.. this can also cause aggression. Dogs also need to be socialized early on so that they are able to interact appropriately with other dogs and humans.

What are the similarities between the two cases? People and dead dogs involved?

This should never have happened but that's the way shelters operate, within the bounds of the law. How are you going to compare that to an illegal bloodsport? Are they going to be prosecuted for something that's legal? No. Not even if they were black celebrities.

Don't really get why you even mentioned Michael Vick.

If someone tried to lay a hand on my dog, it would result in murder. It all depends on how a dog is raised, that's so pitiful...
 
I think in most cases its the owner not the breed which is most dangerous. Any breed of dog can snap, thats something you can't change - any medium to large dog can kill. I think what makes Pitbulls get such a bad name is that some people are attracted to the strength of Pits and want them as a kind of weapon. If you treat a dog badly they will be unpredictable and dangerous. This is no reason to kill thousands of dogs. But I gotta say if I lived in a state that had this policy I wouldn't buy a Pitbull to only have it taken off and killed. If you want the dog that badly move state so that you arnt putting the dogs life on the line. Sad. :sad:
 
Study said Great Danes kill more children than Pitbulls does, so should there be a Great Dane Ban? That won't be happening...

(Granted, the deaths are accidental and rarely ever violence, I think most came from the animal rolling over on top of the child whilst sleeping...which is still neglect on the owners behalf, which is what makes "monsters" out of Pitbulls. Owners are to blame, not the breed.)
 
When i first read the title to this thread, i almost popped a bottle of champagne. I thought it said "Pitbull killed due to denver ban."

I thought to myself, 'finally he can stop putting such gay music out.'

Contrary to popular belief.. everything isn't a race issue. I'm not saying race is never an issue.. but I certainly don't think the case with Michael Vick was a race issue.. more of a humane issue if anything.

Personally, I think the law was too lenient on him. But that's just me.
