In April, South Africa puts on the Peoples Celebration concert, and both Snoop Dogg and Pharrell Williams have agreed to headline the event. Billboard Magazine have reported that the two, as well as Sean Paul, Mario and Rihanna will play at the three night event which utilizes venues at Johannesburg, Cape Town & Durban. Several local acts will also perform.
For fans of Pharrell this will be an opportunity to hear him perform material from his new solo album, In My Mind, which is yet to obtain an official release date.
All three of the nights will be filmed by SABC1 and broadcast to about 23 million people in South Africa. The shows are a tribute to South African food company Premier Foods which manufactures bread, flour and rice. It is the largest black-owned company in South Africa, and the company is more than happy to oblige to the event in by offering free tickets and cash prizes.
