"Party Like A Rock Star"- opinions?

#1
What do you guys think of this Shop Boyz song, "Party Like A Rock Star"? I've had some interesting conversations about it recently, and I'm curious for you guys' take...

Some ppl are comparing them to D4L, Unk and the "snap music" thing that's out now. I think they're really different though...I think it really brings a new sound to the south, and could even start a trend if enough ppl catch on. I love how it sticks to what the south is known for, yet still incorporates a whole new element by using the guitars so heavily. With the minimalistic snap music that's out there so heavily now - piano keys or synth, add drums, and that's the beat - I look at this as a welcome change of pace. Some "hip-hop heads" I told that to saw things differently after I said that...

What do y'all think?

kats like Kid Rock, twiztid, and Linkin Park been doing this type of music for years. shit ain't nothing new. hell, half the music on my soundclick page is like that. and it sure as hell ain't got shit to do with this snap shit. if i remember right, it's refered to as "Trip Hop".

anyway only difference is that now you've got black folks doing it main stream now. plus you've got the new Lil'Jon album which is suppose to be rock influenced as well. not that i'm bashing it or anything. the shit can be very good music. and if it does open up doors for better music, i say let it be.

but it's far from new. just not that accepted.

and the song sucks. chorus and beat is about the only thing good about it.
could have been great though.

Thanks for your feedback, I thought you had the best response in here (no disrespect to anyone else, cuz I respect everyone's opinion; he just gave the most detail).

The cats you named have been doing it, but they aren't southern rappers. I guess I shoulda made this point in my initial post, but part of what I liked is that they combined the essence of southern rap music with the essence/musical elements of rock. Plus, they're looking to combine the southern rap image with the image of rock. Lil Jon sorta had the rock essence to a certain extent, but he didn't take it as far as he could have - he had the energy of rock, but his music was moreso based on synthesizers than guitar sounds like this joint has. Also, judging from the album title (I'll admit I haven't heard it yet, so it's an assumption), Shop Boyz are trying to take the rock thing the whole way, along with the southern rap feel...other rappers from the south have been more limited with it.

But along with all that explanation and ish, I just really like the beat and the hook lol, I think it's a dope song to ride to

dude don't even bother buying the album if that's what your expecting. The rest of it is so full of saturated crunk cliches that "party like a rockstar" doesn't even sound like it belongs on the album. seriously, i wasted valuable time listing to just the song clips and feel robbed of minutes i won't get back in life.

it's nothing that'll stir the south in a new direction. it's just a loop in the same ghetto.
