Pac's black eye? (in Resurrection)

While watching Resurrection for the thousandth time (around 57 minutes into the movie), I noticed when Pac talks to the cameras after his court case regarding his fight with the Hughes brothers, his left eye looks kinda black. I don't recall, but did he get into a fight before that court case?

I think that might've been a different incident because the cops messed up Pac's right side of his face, whereas his black eye is the left one. That is, unless there's another incident that was never publicized.

I always thought the black eye was from a cop beating, and Tupac had the picture taken as photographic evidence, for use against the lawsuit of police brutality.

Common sense says that that picture of his black eye would have not helped his hughes brothers case in anyway.
