You probably wondered why they had Pac refer to his life on deathrow records in past tense in "Resurrection" movie when he said :"WHEN I WAS on deathrow", but guess what? Pac even does it in his songs. Check it out(1) In "High Speed", Pac said,“ Deep questions for the lord, why he don’t like me? Guard my soul, though MY LIFE WAS HARD with no remorse, I absorb..."
^^^Now why does Pac say "MY LIFE WAS"? Shouldn't it be "MY LIFE IS"? In other words, "MY LIFE IS HARD NOW". But instead he says "MY LIFE WAS" to tell us that he's talking to us as if he was dead.
^^^And guess what? If you listen carefully in "High Speed", when Pac says, "bail out. A thug nigga fresh out the jail house. Open the safe, count and take all the mail out", you would notice that while he is saying that, in the background you hear Pac says "I'M GONE!"
(2) In "Troublesome 96", Pac says, "I WAS all about my ends, fuck friends and foes"
^^^Just imagine Pac in 96 up in the studio and while he's recording this song he says in reference to his life, "I WAS all about my ends". Now, would that make any sense to you? Let me ask you a question. When did it become clear that Pac was planning to make his shit get bigger? In 95 and 96!!! So why did he not talk about his ends in the present tense? Why did he not say "I AM all about my ends", in other words, "NOW I AM all about my ends. But instead, he says "I WAS all about my ends" to make it look as if he was talking to us from the dead.
(3) Also, in "Little homies", Pac says,“niggaz knew I WAS a nut case, quick to blast, living underage, but he’ll blaze on yo bitch ass”
^^^
Now, why did he not say, "niggaz KNOW I AM a nut case"? But notice he says it in past tense> "I WAS a nut case". So he's telling us a story about his life that he writes about. The story of a man or lifestyle that he planned to reflect. But he tells the story as if he were speaking to us from death. What you need to understand is that 2pac made his songs in a way that would make it look like he is talking to us like a ghost from the dead. And that's why in "Resurrection", they make it look like Pac is speaking to us from the dead when he said "when I WAS on deathrow, I was successful but not happy"
