Osama bin Laden is dead!

Ristol, I don't disagree about the 9/11 part, or that Bin Laden was cool for blowing up the towers. That I would never do.
I don't have a very good educated opinion on this matter that I'd be confident about simply because there are no legit sources from which I could take my information. I know that whatever the truth is, the whole situation is not that simple.
I'd go as far as saying that America's actions and decisions probably contributed at least as much to these terrible events as those that came from the middle east. Actually middle east did little to harm America before 9/11, however Americans brought horrors to these people there.

Sebastian's post actually would be a pretty legit argumentation. Someone strikes my home for decades, I can't do shit because the whole world approves of the billion dollar slaughter where those who die are almost always innocent - what can I do? I want to stop it but I can't do shit. I lose my close ones everyday to American troops. Why are they here? Nobody can give a convincing reason, yet they kill. Some people rebel against them in fury and they die too, and there are more killings.
There are totally desperate people who had absolutely nothing to lose because some of them lost everything to American crusades. If I saw people on TV partying because they killed my family, laughing at me buring down the us flag in fury, because I'm so helpless what would I want to do? If American civilians stood up and wanted to stop it things would probably stop, but they didn't want to, and America took more and more innocent lives with every month.
I'm almost convinced that any average American in their skin would want to nuke the shit out of the whole world.
Americans for some reason think that their lives and their feelings are more important. 9/11 was bad but there are much worse things happening in the world, part of them are sponsored and/or performed by America, and they're proud of it too. I wonder how Americans would act if Iraq troops decided to occupy America in the name of their freedom and killed a dozen of Americans here and there in the name of "searching for Bush supporters". Bombed some cities from time to time too. The situation would be similar, the amount of firepower is the biggest difference at the moment, and the only reason America is so confident and the other side is so hopeless.

To find a cool metaphor it's like punching a laying kid in the face and being pissed of when he pisses on your shoes while you're kicking him in his balls while he can't even move anymore.
Now I'm not anti-America or whatever, I was quite the opposite. It's just that when I turn on the TV lately or see what they write online I'm pissed off. And back in the days I wouldn't give a damn about the middle east, but now it's just too much when I see what people do, say and write. To be fair this board keeps things quite civilized in this matter. But really, America is responsible for some of the most terrible slaughters lately, and their kill toll is getting bigger and bigger

whats the alternative for those people you mention? i presume you are referring to Afghanistan? Obviously its not right that civilians get killed in this conflict but the alternative is living under the rule of the Taliban. If i had a choice of living under their rule or death id pick death. The Taliban are just complete and utter sub human scum. It was them that destroyed everything for the people of Afghanistan.

The U.S. government clearly has no respect for its own laws or for other nations’ rights, even those of its allies. The U.S. media and public intellectuals are either stupid or complicit in not even mentioning these contradictions that demonstrate the hypocrisy of its leaders who preach democracy and the rule of law for others while constantly violating these principles itself at home and abroad.

, said Osama.

As the Navy Seals broke into the room, Osama turned from his computer screen and said, "Hey, whose tits are these?" The Seals momentarily forgot their mission and gathered round the computer offering guesses as Osama tip-toed to the door.

btw another thing that should be mentioned when we talk about civilian casualties caused by US attacks is the fact that the Taliban love this because it fuels their propaganda war.In many cases civilians are put in harms way intentionally.

Chomsky's Follies by Hitchens

Some of it:

It's no criticism of Chomsky to say that his analysis is inconsistent with that of other individuals and factions who essentially think that 9/11 was a hoax. However, it is remarkable that he should write as if the mass of evidence against Bin Laden has never been presented or could not have been brought before a court. This form of 9/11 denial doesn't trouble to conceal an unstated but self-evident premise, which is that the United States richly deserved the assault on its citizens and its civil society.

In short, we do not know (according to Chomsky) who organized the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, or any other related assaults, though it would be a credulous fool who swallowed the (unsupported) word of Osama Bin Laden that his group was the one responsible. An attempt to kidnap or murder an ex-president of the United States (and presumably, by extension, the sitting one) would be as legally justified as the hit on Abbottabad. And America is an incarnation of the Third Reich that doesn't even conceal its genocidal methods and aspirations. This is the sum total of what has been learned, by the guru of the left, in the last decade.

You knew you'd get a Like from me on that one. (Your 600th, apparently. And 601st, in the other thread.) Good job. But Flip has more likes than I have posts. So you've got a long way to go.

To state that 9/11 was a hologram.... Borders on lunacy.
