Opinions on Mitsubishi Evo IX?

Good question. But remember, this guy owns a shop (two, actually) that does work and sells performance parts, conveniently located across the street from the dealership where I bought my car from, which is also the #1 Mitsubishi dealership in the country. He also has a ton of sponsors.

Damn nice. I'd kill to get a crack at driving a 700hp Evo. Got any clue about the major mods he's done to it?

No, I've tried looking through some of the Evo boards and through his shop's websites for a list of mods. But you can definitely assume that his car is as far as stock as it can be.

By the way, is this thread the biggest one ever in the Picture Me Rollin' forum?

Car is paid off.

Insurance is $665/6 months (so ~$110/month)

Gas (for the month of March, my first entire month of ownership) cost me just under $250, but I've driven over 2000 miles in March because I've been going to a lot of family events in cities over an hour away on the weekends.

Yeah, probably the biggest :)

How much hp can the engine stock set-up take before you have to replace major parts (turbocharger, pistons etc)? I can imagine his driveline also had some extensive modding to cope with all those rampant stallions.

I'm no expert, but based on what I've learned, you can get up to 400 hp (~330 whp) with bolt-ons (turboback exhaust, MBC, ECU reflash, etc.), and after that, you'd have to replace major parts (including what you listed and some other internal parts like cams) and strengthen your drivetrain (stronger clutch, beefier transmission even).

Oh, and to tennis_dog... on my way home from work about 10 minutes ago, I raced a Pontiac GTO. I'm not sure if it was the LS1 or the LS2 (since it was dark), but regardless it was a lot easier than I thought it would be. We didn't go at it from a stop since every red light would turn green before making full stops (hence taking away my main advantage), but even from a roll I'd let him punch it first, but I would always reel him in. The only time I didn't reel him in was when I dropped from 5th to 4th instead of to 3rd, but I still caught up.

^Yeah. The start is like half the part of the race by itself.

No need to make a new thread but I was riding in an SL 65 today, amazing. We raced anythiing that came up to us. SOrry Deez like you wouldn't already know, your car got destroyed, but don't be mad nothing could keep up, pretty sure it is the fastest car I'v e been in, faster than a f430, maybe, I rode in one but not off hte line racing and shit so it isn't a fair comparison, but man, amazing.

I know, but from a dig, it would've been completely in my favor since I have the AWD launch. Going at it from a roll evened things out, but I still slayed the GTO.

I don't doubt that the SL65 would slay almost anything you'd run into, BUT DON'T HIJACK MY THREAD!!! :p

This thread has jumped around crazily, no harm done, plus I raced your car so it fits right in.:thumb: So have you raced antying besides that GTO, and when are you brinigng some footage.

Well depending on what price range your looking at, but I think for a first car, a honda or an acura is good for getting around. Though they are the most common cars, they are also cheap, do not take up so much gas, and you can easily have upgrades to the car. Adding a full body kit on a Honda is probably around 300 bux. Plus the car itself is probably less then 5 grand (1994 - 1997 models). But keep looking around, I'm sure you'll find something!

LOL I gues this was an old thread..cause I just replied to you're first post on this thread..

u got the mitz?? good choice!

^ It's not that old, I started it not too long ago... wasn't it this year? But anyway, were you fucking serious? Recommending a 10 year-old used Honda? Negro please. My first post clearly stated I'm a college graduate, not a high school student working nights at the local burger joint. Besides, the thread title is "Opinions on Mitsubishi Evo IX" not "What cheap ass car can I get for a few g's?"

lmao.

Even worse, having a 10 yr old Honda is no shame, but bolting some outrageous body kit on a 100bhp car is like Star Jones wearing make-up (i.e. SHYT AINT HELPING!)
