Bullet hits B'klyn woman nursing child
A Brooklyn woman shot in the face by a stray bullet while she breast-fed her son inside her home was recovering at home yesterday, neighbors said.
Alicia Garcia was in her third-floor Bedford Stuyvesant apartment with her 2-year-old, Justin, when she was hit in the mouth at about 9:15 p.m. Sunday, officials said.
Miraculously, "SHE SPIT THE BULLET OUT," said neighbor Lydia Reyes.
"It was very scary," she said. "Nobody thinks that in their own house something would happen like that."
Garcia, a 33-year-old mother of three, was taken to Bellevue Hospital. She was released yesterday.
"The baby is okay and now she's at home - she's doing okay," Reyes said.
Cops arrested two men in the shooting; Levar Riley, 25, and Jeffrey Frias, 18, both of Brooklyn.
The men were charged with first-degree assault, weapons charges and reckless endangerment, police said.
