ok, the two red lights come on immediately after i turn it on today and the fan is awful loud. dont get how it can be overheating. it been off all night in a cool, well ventilated area like it had always been.

its out of warranty so it will cost be something like 100 euros to repair. maybe id be better off getting a new one.

If these 2 red lights pop out instantly after turning on your console it might be a faulty temperature sensor or something as that seems pretty strange.
If it's really overheating (which means that the error should pop out at least like 10-20 seconds after turning on your console) and if it's out of warranty already you can try opening it up and changing the thermal compound but it might be hard to do if you've never done it before.

^^yea i read that the thermostat may be the problem.

there is no way it could be over heated.

im not sure how to go about doing that tbh.

If its sensor is a problem then it doesn't need anything else replaced and your console is all fine except of that.
It should be quite cheap to fix imo.

Yeah I noticed that too.. sucks. You can still play it if you do the "Resurgence" modes.. but other than that.. nope. :\

No, I was on Wasteland in the bunker with a Thermal Gripped RPD with Bling, Stopping Power, and...Commando? Or Scrambler. Dunno. The third perk has some of the most useless options.

so i left the xbox 360 off and disconnected it for the weekend. turned it on today and after about 20 minutes playing Doom the fan started getting really loud again and on came the two red lights again and off it went.

i rang Microsoft and the woman said that it would cost about 100 euros to repair and id have to send it to the US. i just told her that id probably be better off just getting a new one and she said that Microsoft respects whatever decision i make and are there to support me. i feel so loved now. fuck off.

bitch didnt seem to know anything about 2 red light errors either.

i read that Microsoft will fix 3 Red Rings for free but not two. not sure if this applies to Ireland.

I had two red lights the first time my console broke, I applied the "towel trick" in order to get three red lights. When I had three red lights, Microsoft fixed it for free. I can't say if it will work for everyone but it did for me. It is quite risky as it could completely overheat more components / melt solder on your xbox motherboard, but if you have nothing to lose consider it.
