This will be a Doom killer, although thats not that hard.

Caught in Madrid by British movie magazine Empire, Guillermo Del Toro has confirmed the rumors circulating the net for the last few days. Peter Jackson, the triple-Academy Award winner director of Lord of the Rings fame, has approached Del Toro to helm the big screen adaptation of Halo.

“Well, Halo is very much an interesting project because it’s so full of monsters,” Del Toro said. “It’s a big temptation. I’m in talks with them [Universal and Bungie Studios] and Peter, but it’s not true that it’s on and Hellboy’s off. Hellboy’s on. If everything goes as planned, Hellboy will go.”

But Del Toro explained that depending on the production of Hellboy 2 is that he would be available to direct Halo or not.


“The ideal for me would be to do Hellboy 2 and if Halo doesn’t go away, then yeah, I’d love to do both. But it may go to somebody else. We’ll see.”

A veteran gamer himself, Del Toro is a big fan of the Halo series because of the rich universe and its characters:

“Most of the time games don’t have an universe or creatures that interest me enough. And this one does. Master Chief is such an iconic character and it’s very much a sort of a good version of Kroenen.”

Del Toro + Jackson + Halo = Coolness.

this movie has been in talks for a while now. should be interesting to see how it turns out. to bad it will be years before we ever see it.

i wonder how they would go about making it? live action or all cg like final fantasy?
