Film & TV One Missed Call

didn't they make this movie like 5 times already? this is just basically The Ring with a cell phone instead of a videotape, or a website, or whatever other "see it/hear it/touch it and you die" plots that have been done and done and done again. lame.

I suggest you see it before you pass judgement.

why do you assume i haven't seen it? honestly, i haven't seen all of it, because once i started watching it and realized i'd already seen it so many times i stopped watching. i'm not interested in watching the same movie with a slightly different plot over and over again. it would be nice if hollywood came up with one original idea this year, just one. enough of these japanese remakes.

It was a reasonable assumption given that your post began with a question.

And I agree with the remakes of foreign films, the originals are invariably better, and different enough to make them not similar to other movies. When Hollywood waters down the movies, I can see your point in that many of them become interchangeable.

That's why Im not massively looking forward to the remake of "The Eye" with Jessica Alba or the remake of "Shutter". I've seen the originals to both these movies and I am sure the remakes will get watered down, just like The Ring, The Grudge, etc. I reckon One Missed Call might well fall into that category too, but having not seen the original to that yet, I can't judge. But regardless it is still a very enjoyable movie in its own right. Watch to the end, cos there's a twist that I didn't expect at all.

well unless the Japanese version is totally different to the American version, it's still an overdone, unoriginal plot, so Hollywood is copying the Japanese who are doing the same thing Hollywood has been doing for years, copying itself. not very original, and not very interesting to me. but to each their own i guess.
