2) There is nothing offensive about wigger.

Chronic said:
There are two definitions of wigger:

a) A white person imitating a stereotype black person. This comments on the white person's fake persona. When you call someone a wigger, you're saying they're fake. That is the main thought behind it. This is why white people that do not hate their own race will sometimes also use this word. The race of the white person is mentioned but it is not attacked so there is no racism involved. What is there to be offended about? Do you cry every time someone is called fake?

b) A white person who hangs out with black people. This definition is mostly used by white people. The white person is seen as a traitor because he mostly hangs out with black people. There is racism involved here but it is directed at blacks. They're saying he's like those black people only he's white. They're saying he's like those niggers only he's white. Again the white person's persona is attacked (he's a traitor), only with this definition there is racism involved, towards blacks. So what about this offends you?

You're just some pathetic kid using the word cause you think it's cool or something.

I don't really get it Chronic. You say there's nothing offensive about the word, but then you go on to say that it means you're a wannabe. I'm not calling you out or anything, you know we're cool, but i'm just gonna explain why I think it IS very offensive ..ESPICALLY to someone like me.

I have a unique view on alot of different things really. I find it hard to be proud of shit these days, but one thing I think it's not so hard to be proud of is being yourself. You. The way you think, act and all other things like that. So to me, wannabe is one of the worst things you can say to someone. It's saying you're trying to act like something you're not. And I am a person that strongly believes that you should be your own person and not follow everything you see.

You obviously know I love hip hop music like there's no tomorrow. It's also no secret that white dudes that like the music (whether it be underground hip hop or anything you see on tv) get called wiggers non-stop online. I can honestly say i've never been called a wigger face to face in person though. If anyone knew me and how I acted, I know for sure they would never call me that. People just don't know though and they will throw the word at someone in a second. I mean, the word basically means you wanna be black, so shouldn't it be the black people getting mad? Yet ..i've NEVER heard a black person say it. The only people i've actually heard say it were white. I find that funny as hell really. So that's why I get so offended when someone says it to me. I just don't fit the description. I'm actually the complete opposite. Being a wannabe isn't all about your appearance, yet people are so quick to judge.:thumb:

They just see that I listen to hip hop music and BOOM, the stereotyping begins. It's so much more then that though. I don't wear insanely baggy clothes. I don't speak with a bunch of slang to the point where you can hardly tell what the fuck i'm saying. I don't wanna be anybody but myself. There are alot of wannabes out there though, but don't look at everyone like one.

By the way, I also don't like when white people use the word nigga like it's just some random slang word. They know the meaning, but they use it anyway. I am a person that hates racism and I believe we're all equal. I am a really deep person when it comes to shit like that honestly and when I hear people talking about the opposite race, it really saddens me. I mean I don't cry about it, but I shake my head and just say why. I doubt it will change anytime soon, but fuck.

well let me ask you this, is someone who is not black, who acts black a wannabe? wait let me rephrase that...when someone acts like a "stereotypical" black man, are they a wannabe? i mean, when i see the same kids who i went to middle school with who were good whiteboys, (or any other race you want to add) and now they are wiggers, i dont beleive they are just having self discovery and realizing that they had a "stereotypical" black man inside them all along waiting to come out. i mean i dont feel that alot of times they are at fault. how can you blame them when the whiteman really has no culture to speak of anymore, and if the parents arent teaching them who they are then thats where it starts. and when the kids hit that rebelious stage where they start acting out they usally look to mtv and music to tell them how to rebel...it use to be punk rock, then heavy metal, that was the whitemans rebel voice. it just so happens that when you turn on teh tv all you see is rap videos, and when you turn on teh radio you hear rap music. rap is the new age heavy metal and punk music, its a form of expression just like any other music. but as it stands it is a culture of the blacks, and if you try to deny that then your delusional. so these wiggers from the suburbs identify with teh negative aspect of the music with no grasp on teh reality that creates the music, its not their struggle. if you dont live in that enviroment then you are just an outsider. you cant be white listen to rap around blacks and not get a laugh out of them, even if they dont let it be known. go to an all black ghetto as a white boy and try to fit in, even if your just being yourself. i guerentee you will leave with alot of self exploration to do. so to me if your portraying somthing your not then you my freind are a wannabe. just like if your a fake ass skater...your a poser. now there are exceptions to the rule, there are many non blacks living the life that breeds the rap music, which is economic depression, you cant deny that fact. but the thing is you can tell the difference of who is a wannabe and a wigger. just like you said, you down for your shit and nobody came at you like that. much props, you may not yourself be a wannabe, but you cant deny that their are wannabes in any form of life, it isnt restricted to wiggers. ok im rambling i know but i wanna touch on one thing that may strike a nerve. as i was saying before rap music is black culture...everyone has their culture, latinos have theirs, asians have theres, muslims have theirs, everyone in this big melting pot of america. but if you look deeper into teh issue you will see that whites do not really have a culture as whole. whites have almost become uncultered, that is why there are wiggers i think, white people have been made to feel so ashamed that they are white from the past actions of their forefathers, that its almost a sin to be white now. i see white people are made to look inferior to everyone else, not as strong, not as fresh, weak, insecure, non dancing and corny....you see it everywhere you look. its like not cool to be white anymore. the last of the whiteboys died out in the early 90s in my opinion, back then you really saw no wiggers if you didnt live in the city. then rap took over and there was this explosion of people thinking that what they see on teh tv is cool, or what they hear on teh rap tapes is cool and exciting. another thing i see is these wiggers are generally sort of rejects of their peers, the kid that couldnt get any girls or who got picked on all his life invents this wigger charector to get respect from his fellow peers, which i would say backfires in his face. his own people laugh at him as well as any real person who is actully just being themselves. yes yes my friends we have made leaps and bounds in the race game....but that doesnt mean that everyone cant have a culture....for minoritys its celebrated to have culture, so to the wiggers why not be proud of who you are and just be yourself, i mean being proud of your own heritage and culture isnt somthing to be ashamed of, and being happy to be white doesnt mean you hate anyone, just like if someone is proud to be mexican or black, doesnt mean they hate anyone else...make sense?? i say enjoy the music love your fellow man, but dont try to be somthing your not, isnt that what we talk about all the time in america?? celebrate our diversity?? i think any man can agree on that

It was a culture started by blacks, nobody is denying that. I grew up listening to hip hop music since I was a very little kid and it's all I ever liked and I all ever will like. I was always exposed to it. I love everything about it. Whether it be a song I can just nod my head to or it be a song I can relate to.

I don't have to GO anywhere. Where I live is small enough, so everything is basically all packed together. Go anywhere and walk down the street or a few blocks and it's basically always a different enviorment. I've been everywhere around here and people have never really looked at me the wrong way. When i'm with someone and we go somewhere and they introduce me to someone and (IF) i'm the only white dude around, I don't feel uncomfortable. Not because I think i'm not white or I don't wanna be white, but because that's just how I am. I've never met anyone that thinks like I do and I don't expect to.

Like I said, I find it hard to be proud of alot of things these days. The ONLY thing i'm proud of is being myself. Being the way I am, espically the way I think. I'm not proud of my race, i'm not proud of where i'm from and i'm not proud of my background or anything like that. That doesn't mean I don't know my race, where i'm from or my background though ..it's just part of what I believe and it's part of the way I think. People may think i'm crazy for thinking like that, but that's how I am. I can explain it more if you want me to.

Of course there ARE a bunch of wannabe's out there. I see them all the fucking time. I think all kinds of people struggle in their own ways. Some can relate to others and some can't. I think people as a whole struggle. I don't think you have to be from a certain place to relate to something. There are plenty of kids out there whos parents buy everything for them and they think they are some kind of ghetto fabulous faggots. That's obviously a different story. The way I am, holy shit ..if I was like one of those people I would be so ashamed of myself. You have no idea. I laugh at those kinds of people, it's just crazy. Instead of realizing how good they have it and realizing how many people would wanna be in their place, they would rather act like something they aren't. You see those kind of kids trying way too hard all the time.

I definitely don't deny that there are wannabes, but I think people are way too quick to pick out who is one and who isn't. Feel me? People as a whole are just fucking assholes these days and it is pretty hard to deal with. I'm not the type to let shit bother me, so it isn't a big deal to me where i'll punch a wall, but I definitely wonder why they think and act the way they do. They're so quick to be disrespectful, stereotype, judge and anything like that. Now me, I don't do any of that really. I'm pretty much the complete opposite. There are times when I may seem hypocritical, but it happens to everyone right?

I'm the type that's always thinking, you just never know what i'm thinking about. It's like a struggle in my own mind if you know what I mean. I think differently compared to alot of people, so you may disagree with alot of the things I say. I won't get mad at anyone for it though, speak your mind. :thumb:

good shit homie, i wasnt invalidating you at all you feel me?? i just used some of the things you said as an example..but i really feel what you just said. see a wigger knows hes a wigger plain and simple. and everyone else knows hes a wigger. and your right, rap was a culture created by the blacks that everyone can relate to in their own way, although i do feel that some partucular rap genres are only somthing you can embrace if you come from the inner city enviroment which happens to be where alot of blacks reside...pure hip hop is not one of those. and like you i myself grew up in a smaller town...i ahve lived in two big citys but i feel that my home is a town of about 100,000 very diversed people of all cultures and backgrounds, everyone just hung out with people they could relate with, as in gangster fools all chilled together and banged together regardless of what race they were, same with skaters and rockers, and no matter what culture you are you get embraced in any of those things if you keep it real...if you a G that means your down for your shit and put in work, if you a skater and ride good your looked up to for that, if you like punk or rock or you can play or sing your respected for that, regardless of who you are...you dig? that is your culture..i mean it dont even have to reflect just the wigger, there has been many black fools that came down to where we were and they just didnt fit in with teh shit that we was doing, and their only claim to kick it would be that they are black..but take the suburbs for example....when i say whites have no culture i say this because what i feel is that when you come from more economicly stable areas i think that the kid is born, goes to school and is prepped and guided in a way, then as a teenager rebels (wiggers ect.) gets over it and ends up the same capitolist slave his parents were..sorry homie i just got alot of shit brewing and i dont express it the right way sometimes lol...but much love to you homie, and keep it real

Nah, it's all good man. I knew you weren't taking shots at me or anything. I was just saying what I thought. I didn't mean I grew up in a small town btw, I was just saying where I live is small. The smallest state out of all actually. That's what I meant. The city I live in is very diverse and I really enjoy it being that way. :thumb:

Jazz, rock 'n' roll, soul, and R&B each have large devoted white audience members, many of whom share traits with Norman Mailer's "white negroes", young white listeners trying to perfect a model of correct hipness, coolness, and style by adopting the latest black style and image. Young white listeners' genuine pleasure and commitment to black music are nessessarily affected by dominant racial discourses regarding blacks, the politics of racial segregation, and cultural difference in the U.S.. Given the racially discriminatory context within which cultural syncretism takes place, some rappers have equated white participation with a process of dilution and subsequent theft of black culture. Although the terms dilution and theft don't capture the complexity of cultural incorporation and syncretism.

My 2 cents.

lol read between the lines.
Of course the person you call a wigger is going to be offended but the word itself just means fake and the word 'fake' is not offensive. (I was speaking strictly of the first definition by the way, the second definition is definately offensive). I meant it's not offensive in the way that 'asshole' is not offensive while 'cracker' is. Asshole is just a normal curse word while cracker is a racial slur. If that makes sense.

I'm done with this whole discussion though. I've had it too many times. Don't even know why I let myself get dragged into it.

People please just let this leave the first page.

Hehe, all the colors of the rainbow:thumb:

I addressed the same comment and I'm still trying to figure out who the word "coloured" refers to.

Personally, I'm completely agaisnt that word.

Fake can be offensive too. It's saying you aren't real. To me, that's also very disrespectful. But like I said, that goes with the way I think personally and I know people may disagree.

Read this again:

" course the person you call a wigger is going to be offended"

"I meant it's not offensive in the way that 'asshole' is not offensive while 'cracker' is. Asshole is just a normal curse word while cracker is a racial slur. If that makes sense."

I mean that the word in itself in not offensive. To a word like 'wigger' or 'asshole' you can say 'well if the shoe fits..'. If someone is being an asshole, you can call them an asshole and it's not offensive in my opinion, it's just truth. Whereas you can't say such a thing for a word like 'spic'. That word can never apply to a person.

I'll put it in context.

Imagine Bush got into an argument with a Hispanic guy. If Bush called him an asshole no one (expect for those over-sensitive ass bitches) would really care but what would happen if he called him a spic?

Damn I am not even reading all of this shit, cause I already know how I Feel about it, I am glad there are a handfull that agree with the way I feel,
