Official Champions League & Europa League thread

I thought it would end as a clean sheet. It's no easy task playing in the San Siro.

I watched Bilbao and Schalke today, great match. I love the clash of styles encountered in the Europa league.

Clowns? really?
7 european cups

Yes, I will call them clowns for dominating Arsenal in the 1st leg. Then I'll call them brilliant getting a beat down in the 2nd leg, which nearly knocked them out of the competition.

History is always a great argument when discussing current form in football. All clubs that have won so many trophies should be reminded of their history when discussing what a great side they are, even when they are not in top form. The amount of trophies is the best measure of where the club stands in the present day. Win or lose, the fact that they have that great history is what makes them who they are today. The greatest.

I was hoping Milan would pull it off. That second call for the foul on messi was so weak.

Real vs Bayern should be a great match up. I'll always be pulling for el blanco but this is going to be tough. If Chelsea can pull off the upset, wow

Ribery might be the most annoying player in the world. His dives are ridiculous.

Good game, sucks Bayern snuck out the win. I wish Real would have pressed a bit more once they got the goal to tie, of course they sit back on it. I think Real will take this at home.

I thought Real would win by 2 goal margin, I'm happy to see I was wrong. I sadly missed the game though, I was with a study group for my finals... I guess I'll be watching the repeat.

Are you talking about El Clasico this weekend or what. Camp Nou is home of Barca Pittsey, stupid English people

Are you kidding me, Barca was great. They had 78% possession, that's crazy. They put 24 attempts on goal, guess how many Chelsea had? One, Drogba's goal. Cole and the crossbar saved this game for Chelsea, hell fucking yes. Man if they can get a tie at Camp Nou that will be amazing. Fuck Barca

Chelsea did defend really well, they're size is helping them a lot. Chelsea was patient and let Barca pass around and struck when they needed to. They played a very composed game and defended well. They capitalized on their chances and in the end got the result. Mad props to Di Matteo and the "Old Guard." Without that experience, especially on the backline with Terry, Chelsea wouldn't have been able to do what they did. You know how hard it is to watch a team control a ball for 78% of the match? Their experience kept them patient and composed and it was one good win. A repeat performance is going to be hard to do that is for sure.

Next week is going to be interesting. Does Di Matteo stick with this squad or bring in some younger guys. You know Torres wants his shot at Barca. I don't really see what Barca can do much different, they just need to finish I guess.

Bayern has given up in the Bundesliga so expect them to rest their team again. Real has fucking El Clasico coming up this weekend and are only four points clear of Barca, fierce fierce games back to back for them. They're lucky they're relatively young but I am very worried.

Chelsea have always been solid. Ever since Mourinho. Boring, boring Chelsea. AVB tried to give them a bit of freedom and some excitement. But he cut too deep too quickly. Now it's back to boring and solid. But, it beats teams like Barcelona, because Chelsea are good at spoiling. Also, some of the play acting from Chelsea was very bad.

Barcelona will always dominate possession, it's their style. But... I think Teams are beginning to figure them out a little. I predicted Chelsea to win here, but possibly not a Barca. Should be close though. I definitely think Man City would beat Barcelona. They are powerful, which Barca don't like.

I am looking forward to this weekend though. A nice Barca, Real rivalry. And some serious cheating from Real should be on the cards. Good for a neutral.

Wait wait wait. Real cheating? Don't make me bring up the calls that Barca gets. I'd be willing to bet that over half of Messi's goals result of him being offside lol
