As some of you know, I'm in a rap-rock band on a major label. Thus, nu-metal is a big influence on us. Who's your favorite nu-metal band?

Around '98, when it became really big, labels started signing any old band, many of whom had one or 2 hits and then disappeared. Kind of like how labels signed shitloads of white rappers once Eminem blew up and then they all disappeared. Some ignorant people think that nu-metal caved in on itself after this, but not at all. The best bands are still consistently selling lots of albums. People like:

KoRn - pioneers and still probably the most consistent nu-metal band. Their last release "See You On The Other Side" was fucking dope. Classics like "Korn", "Life Is Peachy", "Issues", and "Follow The Leader" still cannot be fucked with.

Disturbed - Another consistently high selling band, last years "Ten Thousand Fists" was one of the top selling releases of the year. and "Down With The Sickness" is still one of my anthems of all time.

Linkin Park - They don't drop often (2 albums and the Jigga collab to date), but, EVERYTIME they do, they sell shitloads. They are the highest selling nu-metal band with 35 million sold! The Chester and Mike tagteam is a killer combo. A whole bunch of classic hits from just 2 albums! (In The End, One Step Closer, Crawling, Papercut, Somewhere I Belong, Breaking The Habit, Numb, etc)

Limp Bizkit - I love these guys. "Significant Other" and "Chocalate Starfish" albums were serious milestones in nu-metal history. Unfortunately Fred seemed to enjoy being a celebrity too much, Wes Borland left and it all went to shit for a couple of albums. Wes' return and last years low-key release "The Unquestionable Truth Part 1 EP" seem to have put them on the uphill slope, thankfully. Fred promises a return to the Bizkit of old with this years full length "Unquestionable Truth Part 2". Can't wait.

System Of A Down - probably more prog than nu-metal, but there's undeniable hiphop influences, to the extent that Serj launched into a live rendition of Snoop's "Ain't no Fun", when I saw them live. "Toxicity" definately benefited from nu-metal's popularity and sold a shitload of albums, and a collab with Wu-Tang was fucking dope as well.

Rage Against The Machine - I shouldn't even have to mention how RATM are one of the greatest bands of all time. Absolutely flawless, and Zack was one of the illest vocalists. ITS JUST ANOTHER BOMBTRACK!!!!

Skindred - bringing a new twist to the genre with a mix of dancehall-ragga vocals, hard metal riffs and punk energy. Original as hell, their sound is sick. Check the tracks "Nobody" and "Pressure" in particular.

/\ because they publically distanced themselves from nu-metal and I seem to re-call Chino having a dig at Jonathan Davis as well recently for no reason. I've never really been a big Deftones fan. Recommend me some of their songs to check out, I've only heard bits and pieces really, the white pony album i've heard most of and a few trax from other albums.
