Non-Urban Music No Doubt

Just recently started listening to them again.I got Tragic Kingdom when it came out in the 90's and that album is classic but then i kind of forgot about them until i bought their singles collection 2 years ago.I didnt listen to it much when i got it but now i cant stop listening to it.They are a great band.

Anyway i heard that they are recording a new album at the moment and Gwen is gonna join up with them again after her Sweet Escape tour is over.Anyone got any news on this?

Also, why did Gwen go solo.I know she probably wanted to do something different and she is entitled to,but most of this music doesnt suit her at all.I think she has an awesome voice from the No Doubt stuff. Its very original and distinct but none of this solo stuff does her any credit. With the exception of that Cool song off her first album, none of the music suits her.A lot of people say that she cant sing which isnt true. These people should listen to Tragic Kingdom..Its a shame because No Doubt could have been releasing good music in this time.I know Gwen doesnt really mind because she is rolling in it now but its dissapointing. There is no comparison between the way she sings on songs like Sunday Morning,New,Its My Life etc,the pre Tragic Kingdom stuff and her solo efforts. What do ye think.?

i think no doubt is one of the greatest group ever and i'd pleased to see them make another album together.

and i've liked some of gwen's recent stuff, but its true that it doesnt totally suits her.

No Doubt rock. You guys should peep Gwen's collaboration with Sublime, it's called "I Saw Red". From back in the day. Sickness.

All I've heard is that they have began working on the new album and will finish it once Gwen is done with her tour.

There are rumours that Gwen's brother Eric Stefani is going to appear on this next album. He left the band before Tragic Kingdom was released.

No they never split up.Gwen solo releases were supposed to be just a side project. Its was initially meant to be just one solo album but i dunno why she went and released the Sweet Escape because it is pretty bad.The first one was ok.The band have started recording a new album and Gwen is supposed to join up when her tour is finished.

^^Its called Dont Speak.

You should buy some of their albums.Id recommend Tragic Kingdom and Return of Saturn.Rock Steady is ok but its more mainstream pop music.

imo Gwen sings much better on older No Doubt songs than she does now.She wasnt the greatest singer(she admits as well) but she had a distinctive voice and style.I like artists who are distinct and original, although you cant say that about her nowadays.

I saw an interview with her on youtube recently and she said that No Doubt are definately going to record a new album and that she cant wait to get back with them again.I hope its a ska-rock/punk kind of an album rather than something like Rock Steady.

Yea i downloaded it.

Nice track.a bit short though.Sublime are a good band too.

The lead singer of Sublime died didnt he?
Yeah it is pretty short, around 2 minutes if i recall. Excellent track tho.

Sublime are one of my favorite bands. Their singer guitarist and songwriter, Bradley Nowell, died of a heroin overdose in 1996 just before their major label debut was about to come out. It then came out a few months later and was massive, it became one of the biggest rock albums of 96/97. Fucking wicked album, ain't a bad track on it. Check out the tracks "What I Got" and "Santeria" on YouTube, think you would like them.
