I still like the original Viper GTS coupe (1997) the best.
Agreed. As much as I hate GM, the C6 Z06 is un-fucking-believable, even before considering the relatively low pricetag for what you get. The Vipers were on top of their game when the GTS coupe came out around 1997, with 450 hp, a 0-60 mph time of 4.1 seconds and a top speed of 192 mph (before something under the hood popped and coolant started squirting all over the place in one of Motor Trend's older tests... I had the issue as well as the episode of Motor Trend TV that covered this) for the pricetag. However, with the introduction of the current SRT-10 convertible, what we had was a Japanese-designed Dodge that put out basically identical performance figures compared to its predecessor, despite actually have better aerodynamics tested in a windtunnel. So for a while, it was America's only supercar, but despite the 500-500-500 claims (cubic inches, hp and lb.-ft) it was basically no faster while even the idiots at GM and Ford were coming up with new tricks up their sleeves for their halo cars.Duke said:When we compare it to it's obvious competitor, the new Vette, and most notably the Z06, it's looks like it's losing out. More so because it will likely be moderately expensive as well. Vipers never been cheap.
